AFL Club
Adelaide
From today's Advertiser.

"David Noble is the new boss of the Crows' football program."

What? No more Phil? Seriously? I like the sound of this...

"Every member of the Adelaide football department will answer to Noble."

Ok, so Phil's been demoted. I'm still listening...

"This includes football operations manager Phil Harper who has been neither demoted nor stripped of responsibilities at West Lakes in this restructuring."

Wait a second..... So Phil's now reporting to someone who previously reported to him? It walks like a demotion, it quacks like a demotion......

"We needed to integrate our football program under one leader," Trigg said.

Which just happens NOT to be Phil Harper, hey Triggy?

"Phil Harper's role remains the same. His responsibilities remain the same. And the club's appreciation of Phil's work remains the same - he is doing a terrific job," Trigg said.

There it is folks! EVERYBODY IS DOING A GREAT JOB! We've just replaced our football department head MID-SEASON, but let's be clear that NOBODY has been sacked, and NOBODY has been demoted! Let's say it one more time - EVERYBODY IS DOING A GREAT JOB!!

Noble will continue to take up his match-day duties as Sanderson's right-hand man.

Is there a club in the land whose football operations head honcho doubles as an assistant coach on match-day?

What we have here is a football operations manager (Harper) who has been replaced by Noble, who replaced Bailey, who has been replaced by nobody.

Steven, how ****ing moronic do you think your members are?

Trigg missed his calling - he really should have been a politician.

This club has officially become a comedy act. The spin doctoring is out of control.

Ok Smart arses, who could we nab mid season to replace nobles match day role? What happened in March was massive, will define us for along time.

I don't like that some posters can't separate their distaste for trigg and use what went on in march to make mud stick on him. I do acknowledge issues with Trigg outside of what happenned in march.

And thanks for your effort Phil, you tried and i always enjoyed your media input and hope to hear more of it.

I think it's David Noble match day specialist answers to Phil Harper football operations manager who answers to David Noble football program head.

it can only get worse. these blokes all need to protect their reputations, so the likelihood of fresh blood coming in at a high level gets less and less as we perform worse and worse. I'm starting to long for the days when I bemoaned our perceived acceptance of mediocrity. we've certainly appear to have left those days behind us.

To be honest, I think we would do better if we had Noble and Sando doing everything important. We'd save a shit-load of money on assistant coaches, we would still win the same amount of games and we could get new staff in as soon as the season ended.

:p

I understand the cynicism but on the surface I think having one person in charge of the entire football program is a good idea and if Noble is that bloke then so be it. This would also imply by default that Sando reports to Noble which I think is good from an accountability point of view - but of course it's nonsensical that Noble would also be a match-day assistant coach (or any of his other myriad line management roles)...answerable to Sando. If he's going to do the job properly he should be the supremo and should delegate all of those other responsibilities and presumably (hopefully) this will happen in time.

There's no surprises here. The Adelaide Football Club, for all their flaws, are actually A-Graders when it comes to propaganda. It stems from the attitude as to why there can only be 2 member elected board positions. They don't want some rival ticket to come in and take over, they think that sort of action is disastrous which is laughable because you have to have a real mistrust of your member base for that kind of thought process. This mistrust would go a long way to explaining why every time we hear the admin and board do media, it's all, everything is great, nothing to see here.

This kind of media response to always try and make everything that happens to be calculated and great for the club, reeks of a bunch of guys who are scared shitless by their supporters and have virtually no trust in us if they think they have to spin everything.

There is a very conscious effort at this club to paint a rosy picture to the supporters at all times while never admitting fault or taking accountability unless the person in question is expendable. I wouldn't be surprised if media propaganda is at the top of their mission statement.

When you see articles like this, it makes sense as to why Rucci writes crap about our club, they're clearly not being transparent and are doing everything in their power to sell bullshit stories to the public.

Next propaganda piece will be Triggy, Chappy, Nobes, Harps, Sando all arm in arm singing…

Everything is awesome
Everything is cool when you're part of a team
Everything is awesome, when we're living our dream

Everything is better when we stick together
Side by side, you and I gonna win forever, let's party forever
We're the same, I'm like you, you're like me, we're all working in harmony

Lol is Nobes the only bloke at the club who can do anything? Head recruiter, gameday assistant coach and head of football operations. Wowee!
I'd get him to pull on a guernsey too this week, can't do any worse..

Playing Captain-Coach-Head Recruiter-Gameday assistant-head of football-boot studder-scoreboard changer-email analyser..

Neill Balme?? i know he sits in the coaches box on game day. pretty sure he's their footy ops manager.

anyway, i dont really see why there's so much hysteria about this. from the quotes you posted it seems like we've identified a weakness, adressed it, tried to ease a bit of embarrassment for Phil Harper who's been publicly demoted.

The fact the Noble is doing too much is an issue, but the club obviously feel he can do it all better than Harper can, so he will.

If we dont address it at seasons end though and actually get new people in to fill these roles then i'll be with ya.

We should've found someone for Bailey's role last year, not started thinking about it in March.

I like both of these posts. I rate Noble and he has to be one of the best at AFC. He'll do a great job.

I just hate the spin. It would be easy to say "we have had a reshuffle in order to best prepare for the future" and leave it at that. It's got to be more embarrasing for Harper that they are going to great pains to say he isn't demoted when he is.
