The game owes a lasting debt to the Bulldogs for realising that medals aren't just for the team that wins the premiership. Bob Murphy earned that medal. Every player in the organisation should get a medal on Grand Final day. It's not their fault that some were injured or not good enough to play.

Also the team that doesn't win should get medals. It's not their fault they were not good enough to win. Without their contribution there would be no Grand Final and also no flag, so they are vital as anyone. They call it the Big Dance, and it takes two to tango.

Also the teams that didn't play should get medals. You can't deny someone medals just because they were drafted into the wrong team or because they weren't born with the God given ability to propel their team to glory. Being born with zero coordination like Rhys Stanley is just as much left to chance as doing your ACL in Round 5.

Also the fans should all get a medal.
Once again, not being born with the ability to make it to a Grand Final is just random chance and shouldn't preclude anyone from winning.

In summary, it's all random chance that allows some to play or not. Whether it's injury, circumstance, or genetics. We are all also vital to the competition and to the winning of a flag. Therefore we should all get medals.

Thank you.

Certificate or Ribbon?
So many difficult decisions for Gil.

Some good points OP. The term 'premier' always seemed a bit violent and elitist to me, might as well call them the conquerors. Maybe the Concluding Contestants?

Should be more reward for finishing top after the minor rounds. Give all on the list one for that and keep the premiership ones for those that play on the day

Not a bad idea at all. Keep it to everyone who played a seniors game during the year, though. The real premiership medals will always carry more weight, but finishing Minor Premiers is still an achievement that should be noted.
