Yet we chose to overlook both players with a F/S pick.marcmurphy3 said:Definately. Carlton seem keen on taking both at some point if they are available.

Isn't there only 3 weeks between the national draft and the preseason draft? Does that equate to a full preseason? Sorry mate, I'm starting to form a pattern here with this issue as I can't understand why teams let players go in the ND only to pick them up in the PSD. In this case, it might be okay though as the kid we were looking at wouldn't get taken by another team probably AND if an experienced player we thought would be taken somehow got through to the PSD second round, we would be in a position to take them. I'm still wondering if we could take Skipworth or someone with pick 1 knowing that nobody else would match the terms of Ackland's contract so we could take him 2nd.In_Like_Flint said:We should Draft the best available bottom aged player with picks 68 and possibly save the other pick for the PSD after putting a kid through a full pre-season.
It worked for Port and the Tigers last year and we drafted Mclaren.![]()
Possibly because bottom age players can't be drafted in the PSD and the rookie draft so they let the 18 year olds go through to the next two drafts. The Old Dark Navy's said:Isn't there only 3 weeks between the national draft and the preseason draft? Sounds good but are you expecting Carlton to have a plan.In this case, it might be okay though as the kid we were looking at wouldn't get taken by another team probably AND if an experienced player we thought would be taken somehow got through to the PSD second round, we would be in a position to take them. Thats because neither are clearly worth pick 35. Pick 83 however is a different story- I would definitely want to pick up Jake Williams if he was still available at that p[ick.In_Like_Flint said:Yet we chose to overlook both players with a F/S pick.![]()

Fair enough. I don't want him either, I just used him as an example because I have seen it suggested around the traps and thought it was you that was interested. Obviously not.In_Like_Flint said:I'd rather re-draft McGrath than Skipworth.

I personally think he would be, but yeah, I agree with you- we should pick up a ruckman with one of those last two picks.In_Like_Flint said:Only if he's the best available.
I don't think we really need a player like Jake Williams if we draft three mids early, but we desperately need to draft a couple of bottom age rucks late.
We'll rookie him if he's any good and I don't care if another club drafts him or Tommi.
I wouldn't know Skipworth if I fell over him in the street. The Old Dark Navy's said:Fair enough. I don't want him either, I just used him as an example because I have seen it suggested around the traps and thought it was you that was interested. Obviously not.![]()
