We're racing in "New Joisey" in 2013

Formula One will reportedly have two grands prix in America from 2013 with New Jersey hosting a street race.

Formula One last raced in America in 2007 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway but when the race organisers failed to agree a new deal with Bernie Ecclestone America was left without a race.

The country, though, will return to the F1 calendar when Texas's new Circuit of the Americas hosts the United States GP next season.

However, the following year America looks set to have a second grand prix with reports claiming a race will be run on the streets of New Jersey.

The race is expected to be run in June along the banks of the Hudson River.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a press conference has been scheduled at Port Imperial in Weehawken for next Tuesday to announce the deal.

Formula 1 is set to have two grands prix in the United States from 2013, with plans for a race around the streets of New Jersey expected to be confirmed as early as next week.

Although F1 is returning to the US for the first time next year with an event in Austin, Texas, Bernie Ecclestone has made no secret of the fact that he would like another event in the country - with his preferred location being New York.

Ecclestone told AUTOSPORT last year: "It's happening. We are talking to them and trying to do our best. Let's see what happens."

High level sources have revealed that the plans have now reached fruition, and an announcement is expected to be made by New Jersey governor Chris Christie and other local politicians next week.

It is understood that the New Jersey GP will take place in June 2013, so it can be a back-to-back race with Canada, which will then leave the Austin event to keep its place at the tail end of the schedule to tie up with the Brazilian Grand Prix.

It is not confirmed where the track will be, but it is likely to run along the banks of the Hudson River - using the waterfront and the iconic Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that a press conference has been scheduled at Port Imperial in Weehawken for next Tuesday, where an announcement could be made.

Looking like it's true, and if so would be very cool. However that means another race has to be cut off the calendar with Russia starting in 2014. Wonder what'll go. China? Australia? Maybe even Korea given they're trying to renegotiate their contract.

I need to find some news for 2014 lol.

All cars have the same gearboxes and have to choose only a certain amount of ratio's to use for the whole year. All use renault engines i also heard.

Hungary? why cant they get rid of that dinky little track.... please.

I'd get rid of Imola before hungary, actualy i'd get rid of valencia before both of them. If you really wanna talk tracks, Monaco is rubbish.

Imola is long gone... :o

Thankfully.

Valencia is actually the only race this year I fell asleep during.

That includes Canada where I was up for near 24 hours before watching Le Mans/MotoGP AND which had a 2 hour rain delay where Martin and David were bird spotting in the middle.

F1 at the Valencia street circuit should be a crime against humanity. Send Bernie to the Hague.

Monaco might not be great from a racing standpoint, but I'd argue for keeping Monaco if only because of the history surrounding it. There's just something fantastic about F1 cars going through the streets of Monaco at ridiculous speeds with expensive hotels and yachts in the background. The atmosphere there is superb, and there have been memorable races in Monaco in the past - Mansell chasing Senna down in 1992 is but one example. Hardly a rubbish track. Monaco is a million times better than Valencia.

Albeert park? how does that rate?

Where would the Adelaide track rate?
Sad to say I never saw a race there, I'm only 23 so started watching F1 in 97-98. All I've seen of Adelaide is in old season reviews, which is nowhere near enough to make a judgement.

Apart from the last 90 degree corner and the chicane, Adelaide was almost perfect as a street circuit. these two corners were completly unforgiving.

The bend that hakkinean should of died on was perhaps too narrow with no run off considering the speeds reached.

Other than that it was not only a technical race track with suffiecent overtaking sections, it was one for the men.

The festival laid back nature of the whole weekend had an impact on the racing as well, as shown in clipsal races ( shorter version of gp track)

Was no good in the wet but, Prost was correct on this point when he wouldn't race in torrential rain.

I'd loath to rate it but I'm yet to see a street circuit where the inside outside game is so previlant, or where 3 cars wide into the hairpin at the end of the main straight was normal.

So is there going to be 20 gp's in 2013?
That hasn't been worked out yet, aren't there already 20 GP's on the calendar for next year? No way they could do 21, so one'll have to go. And another one will have to go in 2014 when Russia comes in.

Also, the GP in Texas will be called the "United States Grand Prix" while the New Jersey GP will be the "Grand Prix of America".

Plans for the Grand Prix of America were announced today in Weehawken, New Jersey, US.

The proposed race will be held on a Hermann Tilke-designed 3.2-mile circuit along and above the banks of the Hudson River from 2013, taking in the New Jersey Palisades, in what is expected to be a 10-year deal.

So who's surprised about that?

I don't know why but the circuit actually reminds me a little of the old Pheonix track
