Today my dads cousin who is researching our family found some interesting information about our family. Our great-great-great-grandmother had Drake in her name so he dived a little deaper. He found out that Sir Francis Drake was related to her so that makes us a very distance relative which is pretty cool.

Was wondering who else had famous relatives?

My grandmother's cousin has spent 40 years compiling a family tree - right back to the early 17th century (with a few gaps - but she's done a solid job). No royal bloodlines - but there was a Lord 'Lidge' up the food chain.

Only famous relative is a bit of a stretch. My grandmother's cousin was Weary Dunlop.

Apparently im somehow related to Mary Queen of the Scots, not sure how but thats according to one of my uncles who did a family tree back that far but i dont know how unique that is as im guessing most people would be somehow related to her considering she lived over 400 years ago

I'm related to The Bee Gees and Gary McDonald.

You sure? I've been told many times Wallace was a widely known deviant/cheat.

Not going to say the Archbishop as it gives away my name! But it was in the 1500's

Wouldnt an Archbishop be celibate, and therefore not have any desendants?

According to his profile on wikipedia he didn't practice celibacy

What a playa.

But I meant decended as in, from his family, like he'd be my great great great etc. uncle - I think. It gets a little blurry tracing the family tree back 500 years:

Here's an excerpt:

****** also possessed all the qualifications Elizabeth expected from an archbishop except celibacy. He distrusted popular enthusiasm, and he wrote in horror of the idea that "the people" should be the reformers of the Church.

Sounds like a good bloke.

p.s. I'm aware everyone could now find out my surname if they wanted.

I guess that explains your propensity for selling photos of yourself in spandex pants to over compensating, super-macho, moustachioed newspaper editors. :thumbsu:
