A lot of chatter about "what if" from the 2000s era lately, and fair enough too. So many things that we did wrong, or that went against us.
The past is done, sadly.
The best we can hope for is that enough awareness of the mistakes that our club made during our last period of on-field strength still exists around the club, and can guide us during our next push. Perhaps 2003-2010 is what we had to go through to give us enough insight to maximise our position properly the next time round.
It does seem that the club as a whole is a lot better prepared than when Thomas, Butterss and Waldron/Lyon, Westaway and Nettlefold were running things.
It got me thinking: if you could choose your ideal admin team, ie; Pres, CEO, Head Coach from the last few incarnations, who would you choose and why? To make it a bit more varied, please DON'T include current incumbents.
President:
Andrew Plympton
Rod Butterss
Greg Westaway
CEO:
The bloke in Plympton's admin (name?)
Brian Waldron
Archie Fraser (!)
Mike Nettlefold
Head Coach:
Stan Alves (no, there will be no Tim Watson option)
Grant Thomas (no, there will be no Malcolm Blight option)
Ross Lyon
oh, alright then...

Difficult to say as all separate admin faced different challenges at the time I suppose. So if you like, you can specify a particular era which you would like your admin team placed.
And yes, it does seem for the moment that our current admin are FAR FAR better than any of this lot, but they've only really started.
