Far Cry 4 will be released in the first half of 2015 and is set in the Himalayas, with rideable elephants also making an appearance.

Eurogamer reports sources have confirmed the new locale, which marks a shift from the sandy, tropical locations we're used to.
The aim is apparently to release the game before the end of March 2015, with an official reveal expected at this year's E3 in June. PS4, Xbox One and PC versions are an inevitability, though some confusion remains over whether or not we should expect to see the title on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The setting based around the Himalayas will include both snowy regions but also sunnier, alpine climes. Gameplay is meant to remain similar to Far Cry 3, with an emphasis being on hunting local fauna.

I didn't mind him. I didn't think the story was anything special, I simply loved the controls/game mechanics(in 3), combat and driving were so smooth and friendly.

And the bow, one of my favourite weapons from any game I've played.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Far Cry 2 and still haven't gotten around to Far Cry 3 despite being really interested in it. Glad to hear another is coming out though and it'll be somewhat similar to 3.
Hope they don't waste too much time looking after last-gen. Time to move on and give people reasons to buy the new consoles.

Loved the explosive arrows onto a car bonnet when they'd come searching.

The custom sniper is mint too.

Stop making me want to go back and play Far Cry 3 dammit!!!!!

Will be interesting to see where they go with 4, both in terms of story and improvements to the mechanics and gameplay variety. They really had the balance nailed in almost every way for 3, just need to find a way to push out the gameplay hours into about double that of what was in 3 as it only took around 30 hours which is good but could have provided so much more. I'd love to stay in the world for upwards of 100 hours, just give me more of the same to do and I'd be fine just about.

Hopefully with the whole Elephants thing it means that most of the landscape will be fairly destructible. Add in the already astoundingly awesome fire physics and this could be a game for the ages.

I agree that this needs to be next-gen only too. Not only will it allow for the biggest world possible, but it'll look even more gorgeous and run even more consistently too.

I agree with you on most parts, but they provided a fully satisfying experience that lasted 30 hour in single player.

Which in the day of 6 hour FPS campaigns is just ridiculously good. Asking for 100 hours is kind of greedy and I wouldn't want them to introduce too much filler taks just to try and pad it out further.

It was just about the perfect length as it is.

That being said I want more new and interesting mechanics to compliment what they achieved with FC3

3 was fantastic, loved the slow drop into insanity.

Also, Elephants? Sold Ubisoft, Ill even buy those 5 dollar DLC christmas themed socks you probably have in mind for this

Hoping for a huge map with lots of hidden goodies, can't wait to see some images, location sounds epic. Hopefully more customization as well of weapons and what you wear.

Hopefully a hidden sasquatch lair as well. Come on you know you all want to hunt sasquatch.
