"He finished the home and away season ranked tenth in clearances, 11th in disposals, tenth in effective disposals, and 19th in tackles."

Awesome numbers from Will Brodie.
Has played at a consistently high level all year, might have even gone up a level the last few games.

This is astounding considering he couldn’t run out of site in a week.
No dig at will, I love him but running ability just isn’t his thing. I remember watching a few preseason training sessions and was almost getting lapped by big onions in preseason. Guess you can’t have it all, but if he could find some extra Ks in the tank after another good preseason those numbers could go even higher!

We must have been watching the exact same training sessions

I agree and he proved me wrong

To some extent.

But I go back to the Emma Quayle draft profile that was posted early on in this thread. Sure he's not fast and his disposal by foot isn't great, but he can win the ball at the contest, can use it well by hand to get it out of the contest, and he's hard to tackle in the phone-box.

Not a sexy skillset but while contested ball is part of the game he's a great complement to our midfield group.

His kicking efficiency is low, but that’s probably because most of his kicks are hack kicks under extreme pressure. If he takes a mark, I generally feel pretty confident that he’s going to use it well, mostly because he understands his limitations and never tries anything that isn’t well within his capabilities.

I also think he’s going to thrive roving to a Darcy/Jackson combination. Jackson tap to Brodie, hand pass back to Jackson is going to be an elite clearance combo.

Also has a lovely short burst which was badly needed in our stoppage make-up

If Fremantle wins the premiership Will Brodie will possibly have played 26 games for the season and 4 finals after playing 25 games and no finals in the first 5 years of his career.

What a turnaround.

If we win a premiership wills inside work will be the key and probably put fyfe on the centrelink line next year ..

Fyfe won two Brownlow's basically doing that better than anyone else in the comp (plus a truck load of contested marks).

Huge game for Brodie and Serong. Chop the head off the clearance machine that is the Dogs centre 4 and we’re on our way.

Soapy Serong is key.

If Serong fulflls his destiny, I cannot even tell you how good it is going to be.

To me the irony is that Serong was picked after Young.

Not too bad to be the “pit pony” taken after Young, who is a gun.

He ran out of gas in the last couple of games which is fair enough for a guy who played 25 games over 5 seasons then 24 in one season!

The fact he was getting lapped by onions in the pre season means he has a massive ceiling. Exciting times.
