We are not keen to off load him. Eade wants to keep him, and so do the Bulldogs supporters that saw him improve over the season.

as if we dont FYI he got worse the longer the season went on, he might be a good player at another club but hes a type of player we have 2many of. we would be better advised to trade him 2 freo for someone like a murphy a exchanged of our 4th round pick for their second round pick.
ps- he got dropped for the last game. get your facts right he finished of the season teeribley. oooh now i bet you will claim they your so called reliable "sources" told you he was staying. if you have any real sources they will tell you the only way he will be at the club next year as if they cnat get a deal don.

Yeah, it may be a little bit cheeky, but this is a case where we aren't the ones chasing the trade. The party who wants the trade has to be prepared to give a little bit extra... I think our trading history demonstrates that...
So, if they want a forward prospect (who *most* Freo folk still rate, and would not be unhappy to see retained on the list) for a fella who, as s34550 so delicately put it, finished the season "teeribley", well, you'd expect a bit of sugar with the trade, and an upgrade of pick 7 to 5 would see us pretty much guaranteed of getting a WA midfield prospect. From what I read, this seems to be an objective of ours this draft, so maybe we sweeten the deal with a 2nd round exchange or something? Maybe this time we can do the buy low, trade high thing? Can't it be our turn?

Unless Farran Ray is the straight kicking, strong bodied, pacy midfield twin of Farren Ray, I think we should pass.

Don't listen to that guy. Venture over to the bulldogs board, check out some posters with a good reputation and you'll see Ray gained a lot of respect as the season went when most players were going down hill.

Well why don't you just hang onto him then? Seriously, if you're going to hawk the guy around, don't waste our time by trying to tell us he's god's gift to the midfield. He's carp - that's why you want him traded.
I know it must be hard being a bulldog's supporter and not having actually seen a talented KPP for such a long time, but you need to remember that talls are more valuable than smalls for a reason.

In regards to m/f options we have (age) -
Schammer (22), Peake (24), Black (28), J Carr (27), Dodd (24), Foster (22), Gilmore (25), Haselby (26), Headland (27), Johnson (23), Peake (24), Schammer (22), Solomon (28), Webster (25), Browne (23) Crowley (24), Duffield (23), Dunn (22), McManus (32) & Mundy (22).
McManus is the only one retiring in the next couple you would think and ? a delisting or two.
Not saying they are all superstars but these are the guys who can run around in the middle for us. Plus whoever we take at 7.
Of the more pacey types - Peake missed 12 games, Black 5, Headland 5, Schammer 15. This did not help us.
In regards to tall marking forwards we have

McPharlin/MJ as pinch hitters 193/192
Now you have a ton of pacey outside type MF's.

McDougall is useless and the other 3 have 14 games between them and unless your rebuilding - there is only 1 path to go.
Murphy I gurantee you is better than anything on your list from a tall forward perspective and would play 22 games for you. His 06 average of 1.8 goals game - would put him 2nd on your goal kicking list.Did he take his early chances this season - No, but at WAFL he did a great job. I remember Dougall McDuff at WAFL level - he is simply hopeless. There is no comparrison - I and any other honest supporter can tell you Murphy is already a better player and he has an upside.
Farren would be lucky to be top 4 in our MF rotation at the moment....Murphy would stroll into your 22.
That is why we should say you keep Ray and we keep Murphy unless it is a deal weighted in our favour. Murphy is young but very talented and I would rather keep him.
Forget player to player comparrison - structure wise Murphy makes you a lot better than Ray makes us.

Murphy is not a an AFL quality KPP. Well he hasn't shown it, if this was the case then you guys wouldn't have needed Tarrant who has proven he's an AFL KPP.

He is better than any of the KPP forwards running around in your colours.
Word out of here is Harves is not trading ....so maybe it is wishful thinking.
Have fun with McDougall leading your forward line.
If we keep Murphy I would be very happy and just take a m/f with 7 and keep building.
