GB forward Andy Farrell is being headhunted by the England RU team, with a view to being part of the 2007 world cup squad.

They've already sat down to discuss terms, seems like he's interested.

Personally I think it smacks of desperation by the union people, at his age it's going to be tough to pick up the intricacies of union forward play, I reckon they could only play him at 6 or 8, seems like a risk.

For me it's only really winger/fullbacks who can really make the switch with any degree of confidence.

Maybe if he was younger it might work but he's knocking 30.

Farrell is not a winner. How big is the trophy case at Wigan during the Farrell years again?

Just another of those clever little ploys to take attention away from another code (Any suprises the negotiations were leaked the opening week of the SL?)

Still, with England's current record, it's not surprising they are looking for new talent. ;)

Tell me about it, I'm surprised they haven't started trying to rape & pillage NZ for a few blokes with English grannies. ;)

I have a feeling that they want him just to put him somewhere in the team where he can't perform at his best so they can say Englands best League player is a failure, wouldn't put anything past that mob from twickenham.

Why else would they go after a old broken down League forward instead of a young up n comming Mcguire, for crying out loud, ive seen links to papers on totalrl that say they want to play him from 5/8th to frigging winger, mind you all of the papers have said he couldn't play in the forwards.

WHAT ARE THE RUGGA'S UP TO?

Oh yeah, remember Chris Anderson?(Bulldogs, storm and sharks ex coach)
now coaching rah rah.

from Chris Anderson.

"They just can't afford it. These things happen. The benefactor is leaving. It's tough on the club, it's tough on the players. I am certainly not used to it. We have probably got a bit more solid backing in rugby league."

Seems all the sugar daddies in the world can't save u***n.

Wales, Scotland, Ireland and even the mighty South Africa are all losing money quicker than a John O'neal run state bank.

Well I think they primarily want him to add a bit of leadership to the side, since Johnson, Dallagilli & Back have gone the team is lacking in that area, I doubt it's a conspiracy to make league look bad as it'll be costing a fair few quid.

As for where he'll play, the papers over here have all said that it would have to be at 6 or 8, probably 6, because he doesn't have the pace to play in the backs, there was some talk of inside centre but he's not gonna make too many line breaks is he really.

Not a great idea all round really.
