TALENTED Magpie Alex Fasolo is in line to make his long anticipated return to senior football at Wangaratta on Saturday when the Magpies play Richmond in the NAB Challenge.

Collingwood's director of football Rodney Eade said Fasolo would be available for selection if he got through Collingwood's training session on Thursday morning. He has not played senior football since round five last season.

One of my favorite players will be brilliant to see him back, I think became slightly underrated in 2013 how much we missed him. Probably the best kick on our list and dynamite in front of goals, plus very handy overhead. Will be great for the side to get him back in, teaming with elliot cloke and white he can kick 40 goals a year and set up many others and eventually get some midfield time.

Welcome back faz !!

Do you reckon he will start Round 1?

If he plays and gets through the whole game and doesn't look too far off the mark then 100% he will. Him and white will honestly improve our forward line 100 fold through structure alone.

agree Woolj Fas is regularly underrated in his overhead abilities, a forward line that includes Cloke, Reid, White, Fas and Elliott is a real stretch for any opposition defense to cover.

No need to rush him, good for him to have a run but only if he's 100% right. He has missed a lot of footy and will need a few games in the VFL to start getting back into it anyway.

Hey man, don't burst our bubble. Round 1 or bust!

If he does it will be as a sub, will be behind the 8-ball when it comes to fitness and high chance will play a few VFL games first.

Has played barely any footy since 2012 so I think the VFL is a good starting point.

Fantastic to hear of his return. Yet to really prove he can consistently play at the best we have seen from him but if he can, woowee. Fas really showed us something to hope for right from the start, loved his touch of arrogance and flair. Hoping he will be a permanent fixture in the 22 come seasons end.

He's confirmed to be playing and is close to signing a new 2 year deal!

Also thought this was interesting,

The marking half-forward has been training with the defenders for periods through summer to enable him to switch to half-back, as the club seeks to increase its options for creative running defenders following the departure of Heath Shaw in the off-season.

Very interesting, seems quite a few people picked it(move to defense).
Im not complaining, damaging skills and could be our number 1 rebounder if put to play there permanently.

To the tune of B....I....N.....G....O and bingo was his name-O.

Might have to get that one going in class.

Never hurts to add silk to a side. Hope he can really get himself up to that next level you can just SEE is there if he can reach it. I think it's been said on this board before, but he looks like he almost moves like Ablett Snr when he has the ball.

I wonder if he'll follow a similar path to Daics. More of a mid in the early years to wind up in the forward line. I know he's more a forward right now, but I think they have him pennded for more of a midfield role once he's back on his feet.

It'll be good to see him around again its felt like forever. That being said I'm not a fan of this backline malarky... He's capable of 30 goals a season and is one of the best users of the football at the club and personally I'd rather have that in the front third.
