I've got it. John Murphy.

How silly would he have felt leaving the Roys (to play finals) and going to of all clubs South Melbourne, then ending up at North, with the Roys making the finals in 1979.

Would have been handy for us in 1979 I reckon.

When he left, Murphy told Fitzroy to use the money from his transfer fee to buy some players. Fitzroy then bought Quinlan, Walls etc. Who knows whether we'd have made the finals in '79, if he'd stayed?
