Hi all, I just wanted to voice my concern at the clubs recent lack of father son drafting. It has been quite some time since we have recruited a father son player and I believe we need to play a long game here.

Luke Ball has played 142 games with St Kilda and 64 with Collingwood. He needs a further 36 to go, to make the magical 100! I am sure that he will attain the glory number. Accordingly any male issue of his into the future will be able to choose which club to be preselected by as a father son recruit. we need to make sure that Bally trusts us with his boy and don't commit to him then not draft him. I am of course assuming any son of Balls' will be AFL standard.

so come on Collingwood it's not about the Kelly's, the Moore's or any others but the Ball's!
One last question, is there a sarcasm emoticon? ;)

Only time will tell if the club made the right call on Stewart and Kelly. I think they're a little gun-shy after being burnt by Osborne, 2x Clokes, B Shaw, Barham etc. Even the Davis experience wasn't too flash. F/S recruits need to be taken on merit, not romance. The reality is that with changing F/S rules, no team will ever do as well out of F/S selections going forward as Geelong did in the 90's.

Thought the pun added much.

sorry, but are you inferring the as yet uncreated twinkles in Luke Balls eyes will be anything but!

On a lighter note can't believe how many took me seriously!

Just mucking about guys, you know bored off season and the whole draft saga is over! When is the first preseason game how many sleeps.

The FS needs to be rated close to our pick we are willing to use or he will go to someone else that is clearly what Hine is showing.

and Hine in the last 2 Seasons have Added and Upgraded our Picks

This has been a concern of mine for some time. I have been writing to the club telling them to ask nice young magpie female fans to go to bars where Collingwood players go and offer themselves. Unfortunately, Bucks is deadset against drinking after games and it's having a long term negative effect on father sons...

Only athletic girls shall be required to get up the duff, no short chicks we dont need any more blaires and no fat chicks we need to watch those skinfilds!!!

This is an excellent suggestion. They need to be veted.... put through an internal draft by the club......given a rating to ensure only the best quality father-sons

Maybe Hine did not Draft James Stewart as he did not rate him very Highly.

He was a Speculative Prospect. Did not do much in his Draft Year and was just Upside

Father and Sons arent the same anymore, the bidding system has basically ruined it, Tom Hawkins was the highest rated player in his draft and was taken late in the draft? Who cares, his old man played over 100 so he should have the right to be taken in the 3rd round. F&S picks arent as rewarding as they used to be, if the player is good you pay a first round pick for him which is about the value of him anyway, getting that player in the 3rd round is a reward for the club, and a reward well deserved. AFL f*cked up another system, wouldnt have bothered me at all if Luke Mcdonald or Joe Daniher were 3rd round draft picks.

I tend to disagree. I think father-son is to keep sons at the same clubs as their fathers, not to reward the clubs. I think the picks required for the two clokes and some of the others were too high... end of second round wasnt it? ....that was too high for those guys. The new system delivers sons to the same clubs as their fathers if the team wants it.

Collingwood obviously thinks that the new system is still worth it because they have been throwing resources at training sessions for future father sons... I saw one run by Daicos

Considering if you finish top of the ladder and you have the best kid in the draft who happends to be a f/s you get him for a late teens pick it still holds alot of value especially if you have multiple f/s in the same year, just look at the doggies, we need iur players to only consumate with girls who have twins in there family boost the chances of multiple f/s in the one year

Listen I'm as conservative as the next guy but when I see an opportunity to improve Collingwood's list then I would jump in and take it.

I am sure that there are a number of young ladies around Australia who would be happy to have a child with a Collingwood player if the club guaranteed that it would pay for the education etc. I'm sure that Collingwood players would be into it too, and there could be clauses written into contracts etc. It's an areas where we could use the excess profits of the club, to the club's great benefit. I'd have no problem with a future team consisting of 5 Swans and 7 Pendleburys...

Luke Ball has played 77 games for collingwood.

Sadly, he doesn't qualify as a F/S as his father didn't play enough games for us. Would be nice to see him make it to the club anyway, of course.
