Do you think Faulkner will really get a game?

If so, where would you play him? Throwing him on the ball after playing for a SANFL reserves side and a few games at weribee would be a HUGE call.

But maybe a run on the wing, and a stint in a forward pocket?
 
I would play him forward flank. he could range from the wing down to the pocket. He seems to have good goal sence and can give out a quick handball if needed.

He also has that little bit of pace that could see him running the ball into the 50 for a nice pass to browny.

Playing him here would help keep him out of the real rough stuff for the first couple of weeks.

This is also true.... we need more talls, but i cant see where we can get them from. Wiggins hasnt done anything and bowden cant really take that contested mark.

Bandy is an option but so far this year hasnt shown much.

This leaves perhaps Croft CHF... scary prospect. But we need him down back.

Not a lot of options unfortunatly.

Back to Faulker, we could take the Geelong appoarch of last year. Put the young guys in, get them all bruised and beaten, then play them in the reserves the rest of the year. HA HA

Where to play him : Forward Pocket. I have seen him play a few times and we will never accuse him of hanging out for cheap kicks.
He is also not scared to lay a tackle. I guess that makes him accountable.
 
Bowdo showed he could have the ability to play a tarrent-like roll on a HFF -- move around a lot, offer a target. I wonder about how close a check he will be keeping on his opponent however. A good HBF like Smithy could run off him something chronic.

What is Fawkners field kicking like? Can he kick long on the run?
 
Agreed - Eagleton played alright in R1 but has since reverted to his soft, frustrating ways. Drop him to let him know that the Club won't accept this any more and give Faulkner, who Rohde has already suggested will play some senior footy his first chance. From what I have seen of the bloke he has a dip (thats one thing he has over Eagle already) and is efficient with the footy (thats 2)

We have too many passengers atm and a bit of youthful enthusiasm from Faulkner, who would want to make an impression, might go a long way.

Someone like Smith also tends to give away many easy touches, especially to a forward that can get on long leads up the ground, so there is a big trade off for the damage the bubba type of HBF can do. So far so good for Bowden as a HFF i think.
 
I dont think Faulk's is going to show the toughness we need around the forward flank.
As a result of back to back saturday hangovers I have watched both of the bee's games in full from the comfort of the couch.
He kicked a 3 goals against Coburg but never really looked dominent and against Sandringham was very much on the perimeter of play. ie waiting for something to happen rather making the play himself. He never looked like putting his body on the line to get the footy.

More blokes running back into packs like M Robbins is what we need, not more blokes running ahead of the footy!

Am I alone here?
 
I hope cameron gets a game soon he deserves i and maybe after last weeks performance he may gets his change especially if there is a few changes.

It said he was sick before the game last week.

Never seen him play, does he grab the ball himself or is he a receiver?

More importantly, can he win a 1:1 against an opponent, and man up when required?
 
I would bring in Faulkner because he cannot do any worse than what Eagleton has been doing!!!! I would play him in the forward pocket and then change him onto the wing sometime throughout the game!!!
 
I was unaware he was sick before last weeks game.

He doesnt look like the type who will win 1:1 contests with his body size yet. Like Gia, this will take time!

Would still like to see inside the packs rather than hanging out waiting for a an easy possesion if we are thinking of putting him in the firsts!

Forget his size (177cm,72kg) Cam Faulkner is more hard at it than Eagleton,Alvey and McMahon put together.
If we continue to be disappointing and our season slips away Rohde will have no choice but to fast track his career because if we don't improve,hover around the bottom four or five on the ladder then the only reason I will have to go to the football will be to see fresh blood.
 
Cam is tough enough and clever enough to win his own kicks. His kicking on the run is a bit of a worry as he gets a bit up and under the ball and it tends to float of his boot. This is an easily fixed problem and I would love to see him in the forward pocket alongside either Bowden or Wiggins at fullforward with Brown going into mid-field or across half-back for saturday night.


He trained well yesterday.
 
The age reckons that rhode said there are several more experienced players ahead of faulkner.

Gilbee for one. Macmahon can be excused for having missed all the praccie matches, so deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt.

and with kritter not playing, we would be insane not to add a tall to the team.

I reckon gilbee, skipper, Kmac: IN

Eagleton, Power, Kritter: OUT

And Alvey is officially on notice.
And Harris may have a slight injury.

I don't think McMahon's interrupted pre-season is the issue rather his reluctance to put his body in.
Maybe that is not his style and if it is isn't it is a question of team balance. We cannot play Alvey,Eagleton and McMahon in the same side.

I think Garlick should also be on notice.

Two late goals when the game was over doesn't earn a spot for me.

Out of principle I would drop both of them to show the team we need more from players of that experience.

Hargrave on notice and lucky we don't have anybody else. He is playing in the confort zone.
