Any of you blokes in WA seen this guy play this year?

Seems from reports to have a much better fitness base and has been amongst Peels best players several times. Certainly seems to be getting involved in games a lot more also.

Is there hope for him? I had all but written him off.

I've pretty much written him off.

If SNOS and Grover can't get a game he's got no chance. And it's not like he's some teenage hot prospect we'll hang onto for development; he's 23 already, only a year younger than SNOS.

From what I've seen/heard he seems to be a purely man-on-man lockdown defender with barely any other strings to his bow. Not exactly a great fit for Lyon's zonal defence gameplan.

He's been back to the VFL form that he showed a couple of years ago.

A very good back up for Dawson at FB, so therefore I wonder how he goes at FF?

Not everyone's like Dustin Fletcher and can play forever though. Grover's 32 and almost certainly in his last season and McPharlin turns 31 this year. Hard to see Faulks get a run this season but an injury to a key player next year could see him become a valuable part of the 22.

Similar to Griffin in that he gives us great insurance going forward. :thumbsu:

He played really well on the weekend. One of the ABC commentators said 'Falks handball misses the target. The only mistake he has made today'.

From what I saw he and a few other Dockers from Peel have done well helping to lift Peel from bottom 2 prospects to a real chance of making finals this season.

Faulks, Spurr, Crighton, Sheridan. Peel are doing well out of us.

I think his ability to do the 'other things' that defenders need to do these days are underestimated with Faulks. He wouldn't be at McPharlin level or anything, but he's actually not that bad a user of the ball for a FB type player. Not sure about 'working the system' of Lyon's style though.

In any case, as mentioned, he is well down the pecking order. If he's willing to hang around on low pay, he may be a depth player on the list for a few more years and may even get a game or two when injury sets in and McPharline retires, otherwise I doubt we'll see much if any of Faulks.
