Good suggestion. 2005 and 2006 some of form was simply amazing, putting teams to the sword by 10 goals a game. Craig would be seen in a very different light if we managed to snag a Premiership in those years.
Yep. Such a waste of that time.

I pity the poor fools who preferred Craig's era to Blight's. Jesus Christ.

Craig's era would have been a very good one if he wasn't an absolutely woeful game day coach when it mattered the most in prelim finals. Who the hell cares if we dominated the minor season a few times? When it was really on the line, Craigy wasn't up to it. Voting for him is basically saying that near enough is good enough and that's just loser talk.

I dunno man. Do you remember those years? I was only 10 years old at the time and I still remember how much we sucked ass in 95/96. Not denying that Shaw helped build a great side but naming it as your favourite era seems kind of ridiculous.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this is a thread about our favourite era. I enjoyed watching us more in 2005 and 2006 than I have ever really. If I had known we wouldn't bag a trophy during that time, maybe it would not be so. But that is still the time I enjoyed our team the most.

Retrospectively of course the premiership years are more fondly recalled.

I liked our team in the 2001-2003 era when we had half the premiership sides still running around (with guys like Roo and McLeod in their prime) plus guys like Burton, Bassett, M. Stevens, Welsh, Stenglein and Bode. I didn't rate Ayres, but our gun players dragged us over the line more often than not. Our midfield was great to watch.

The Crowbot era was unsatisfying as we repeatedly fell short against the top sides, particularly West Coast. There was a sense of inevitability in all our finals losses.

In the off season they've been showing old games on Fox Footy, as usual.

There were a number of games from 05/06.

Rutten, Bassett, Johncock and Hart would hold down the backline. McLeod and Edwards would carve off half back and feed to Goodwin and Thompson, and Ricciuto and Burton did what they pleased at half forward. Every time I see these matches I think "How did they not win a flag?". The answer lies in who they delivered to deep forward - combinations of Perrie, McGregor, Welsh and a young Bock. All more than serviceable but none of whom stood up in big moments in big games. The only chance we had was Hentschel but he was cut short before he had a chance to prove himself.

Imagine if Tex was playing back then wow. It is a real shame Carey went down injured, even as an old man in 2005 he would have been a good target.
