This could maybe possibly be on the Media board but GD > All. (That includes you TLC peeps :p).

Anyway, I was bored, staring at my avatar and thought I would start a poll on who people think is the best slasher killer in horror movies.

Michael Myers - Halloween: My personal favourite. I love horror movies, and this was the first horror movie I saw when I was about 8 years old. Michael is the best slasher by far, he's human (although has the uncanny ability, to never have any serious injury). Plus that mask just kicks ass, so creepy.

Jason Voorhees - Friday The 13th: I like Jason, but he is a bit of a pussy, especially in F13 #2, when he gets kicked in the balls and falls to the ground. What kind of guy does that? Plus the later movies really sucked balls, especially F13 #9 (Jason Goes To Hell) worst storyline ever.

Pinhead - Hellraiser: Awesome character. I love his one liners, and his dark, creepy habbits. Pity most of the movies suck, where Pinhead is hardly in any of them.

Freddy Krueger - A Nightmare On Elm Street: This guy I feel will get most of the votes. Freddy is more funny than scary, especially in the later films. Some of his quotes or nightmares he gives his victims are quite humorous (Super Freddy :D).

Chucky - Child's Play: Meh. Chucky was okay in Child's Play #1, it was one of those ideas that was only good for one movie, not 5. Rubbish character. The fact that he has killed so many people is a joke.

I can't be ****ed posting on the others, there's so many. I'll only put the best, or the ones I can remember off the top of my head in the poll. Post who you like best if you voted other.

Well Mr. Cisse, I've been expecting you.

You still have never given me a valid point as to why Jason is superior. Halloween was made in 1978, Friday the 13th was made in 1980, but Jason didn't really come into it until Friday the 13th Part 2 which was made in 1981. Therefore Jason is just a copy of Michael. Sean Cunningham even admitted that himself in a documentary on F13. So ner ner. :D

Michael > Jason.

Well Mr. Nerf, I expected that same old reply.

Halloween was made first, Jason is just a copy, blah blah, and the old 'it was admitted in a documentary' line :p

Michael is sick, he kills for no apparent reason.

Jason was a troubled boy, who drowned because some random chick had her **** out at camp and wasn't doing her job. Jason's mother got his revenge, then of course, Jason followed his mothers orders and killed anyone and everyone that returned to the camp site.

Jason/Jason's mum had a reason to kill people, Michael didn't, therefore, Michael is a cold blooded killer, Jason was just getting revenge, which was warranted.

Now, I'm not saying that both characters aren't very similar, nor am I saying that Michael isn't good in his own right, but, I feel that Jason offers more. Although he may be extremely ugly in some movies, and the movies don't make sense, and his look changes completely and when they eat his heart to bring him back to life is just plain stupid... :p

So therefore, on that basis Mr. Nerf, I've just explained why Jason > Michael

All valid points.

But Jason kills innocent people because he was too girly to stand up for himself.

Michael kills because he is cursed with thorn. He had no control over that. So because of this he must kill everyone in his entire family to stop the rage that he feels non-stop in the hope that the pain and anger will go away. (This is in the real Halloween, not Rob Zombies ****ed up version).

But I think we can agree Chucky sucks balls. And all > Chucky. Who the **** voted Chucky? I was suppose to make this thread public, if a mod can change it. Cheers. :thumbsu:

I agree that these days Freddy seems more funny than scary. But I grew up in the 80s and saw the first three at the cinemas. He scared the bejeezus out of me. I had nightmares for days, especially Dream Warriors where he tears the guys ligaments out and uses him as a puppet.

Yeah good death that one. Although I prefer Jennifers better (through the TV). And yeah he is funny, which I kinda like better, as it's his uniqueness.

Could possibly be why I wasn't a big fan of Wes Cravens New Nightmare. That's probably how Freddy should have been, real dark and evil. But I don't think you can go from funny, lovable murderer to evil, dark, silent killer.

This is it Jennifer, your big break in TV!

HAHA Freddy wins on personality points.

Michael has personality.

What about when he kills Bob in Halloween 1, and stands there tilting his head side to side, admiring his work. :thumbsu:

GREAT THREAD!!
Long time fan of Slashers....
I voted Freddy as he is has the lot IMO..
However a very close second is Pinhead... great lines and abilities, has the puzzle box cube thing, and the ability to create cenobites if need be. The whole chains flying from nowhere to eviscerate people is cool as well...
The rest are all good, but these two would be my choice...

Leatherface or Michael Myers for mine. I dunno if you could classify Leatherface as a slasher though,he's more of a ******ed,redneck hillbilly isn't he? In that case I'll have to go with Michael.

Why no love for Chucky?? Admittedly all the movies after part 2 kinda suck donkey balls, but Chucky is cool. I rate him higher than Freddy. Can't believe Kruger used to scare me so much as a kid. Watching the Elm st. movies these days just cracks me up.
Great thread btw :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Michael Myers for me.

The original was such a great film.

Damn straight it is.

My favourite movie ever. Loomis is such a great character. Everything about that movie rocks.

And the theme. :thumbsu:

What did you guys think of Rob Zombie's remake?? I was so friggin pumped for it because I thought Zombie was the right man for the job....oh how wrong I was!! Extremely disappointing.

yeah - a big let down though still watchable .. it seemed strangely devoid of tension - a thrill-less thriller. I didn't care for the first half where myers was a kid .. that Hillbilly family was sooo over the top you couldnt take it seriously.

The second half was a rehash of the first 2 original films which i've seen plenty of times.

Terrible terrible movie. Words cannot describe how shit it is.

Did Zombie use his imagination at all? Seriously... Michael became the way he is because he got picked on at school, his mums bf was abusive to him, and his sister hated him. Wow Rob, you musta been scratching your head over that one for months.

Rob said that this movie was supposed to answer some of the questions that none of the other movies asked. Yet there are more ****ing plot holes in this movie than all previous 8 combined (that includes the rubbish that is Halloween 3). In the original Halloween, when Laurie wasn't Michaels sister as far as the script is concerned, he stalks Laurie because he follows her home from school one day, then onto the Doyles house. In this piece of shit, he somehow tracks Laurie down, has never met her before, but somehow ****ing knows she's his sister. I could go on for hours, this movie is an embarrassment to the Halloween series.

With the cast this movie had (Malcolm McDowell, Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris), it was extremely disappointing. Halloween 3 > This rubbish.

But that's enough of my rambling.

I voted for Jason. I like Michael, probably second for me. Freddy has a lot of charm, he is hilarious which is great but at the end of the day I want to be scared, not amused. Chucky 1 and 2 scared me because I dont like the idea of dolls coming to life. Freaked me out when i was a kid. Chucky also gets more and more hilarious as the movies go on.

The main three though are great and are iconic. Myers with his white freaky mask and large kitchen knife. Jason with his grisly hockey mark and machete and of course Freddy with the burnt skin, the hat, the glove/knife weapon and his striped shirt.

But what gives Jason the win IMO is his cool deaths. How is it when he crams the girl into her sleeping bag and then repeatedly smashed her against a tree. Quality. And of course the garden shears which he slams into that dude eyes and then rips them open. Gold.

For Halloween fans who have not seen this:

Comedic genius. :thumbsu: :D

Back to remakes. What is Hollywoods obsession with remakes? I would be interested to see what the success rate is for remakes (based on popularity compared to the original). There are only a handful I like (and as you can tell Halloween is definitely not one :p).

Friday the 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street are going to be remade, with freaking Michael Bay to produce. He'll probably use 7 helicopters. F13 he can't **** up surely, especially if it's what the rumours are saying (it's going to be F13 1-4 in one movie). Which as long as it isn't rushed, should be fine.

NOES is different, and Robert Englund hasn't even been attached to play Freddy yet, and if he doesn't, then the movie instantly sucks.
