As we count down the days to the start of a new season, what better time to recap the great goals of 2012. The only criteria in nominating your favourites is this ... what goals do you most enjoy watching. That's it. I'm sure I'm missing a few, but here are a few that stick in my memory...

1. Sam Reid's GF slingshot goal
2. Andrejs Everitt's winning goal against the cats
3. Goodesy's opening goal against the Crows in the first week of the finals.
4. Jetta running onto a Goodes kick into the forward 50, Crows final.
5. LRT's final quarter goal against the Pies in the Prelim.
6. Jetta's 100m effort against the Pies.
7. Goodesy's final quarter GF goal that put us 7 up.
8. Jack's GF goal after Morton's brilliant work holding off two Hawks
9. Mal's winning GF goal (of course it was my #1 at the time, but I've watched it so many times now ...)
10=. Jetta's first goal against the roos where he held off a defender to toe the ball through in the goalsquare.
10=. Sam Reid's round 14 goal against GWS.

I know there are a thousand others ... Benny's freakish mid air volley, Jetta's goal of the year noms, Birdy and Pykey's goals against WCE.

Over to you...

From your list #8, 2 of my favourite players, crucial time in the game, tied the scores, and on the replay Jeff Kennett lost it

Pyke's goal against Glass at Subi immediately came to mind. So did many of the ones you've already listed but the others that quickly sprang to mind were ROK's goal against Brisbane after taking a hanger in the square, Mr September's mark against 2 Crows which resulted in a crucial goal in the QF, Mr September's 2 GF goals and Jetta's near length of the field effort against the Dogs at the SCG (I think it was his 4th of the day).

Your mention of ROK reminded me of his amazing (and sadly futile) goal against the Hawks - round 22 - with about 2 mins left. Amazing reflex goal under pressure.

I'm quite partial to Hannebery's effort late in the 4th quarter of the GF.
Loved his work all day, especially his courage after how he got cleaned up early.

Raw emotion when he kicked it and loved the hand gestures to his teammates.

Actually knew the GF was ours when he kicked that one.

Personally the 2 2nd quarter GF goals of Morton's are my personal picks. And his effort to let Jack have a chance in the final that led to a goal. Just love the disbelief on the Hawks faces, the fact Morton looked for options and chose the right one in doing it himself and, most of all, he got reward for effort.

Outstanding game he had in that GF did young Mitch.

Special mention for Jetta's 100m effort. You knew the result for 20 seconds and it was as funny as hell seeing them try to catch him.

I liked Kennedy's 2nd goal in the GF, where Jetta centered the ball to Jack who handballed to the onrushing JPK who slammed it home from fifty. Sat there thinking holy **** what the hell was that?

So many to choose from, but because it was that man in No 30, LRT's final quarter goal v the Pies in that final, arguably the absolute sealer (although Bird's earlier effort probably ended the contest), had me up off the lounge and scaring the neighbours ... so much love!

Jettas running goal from 50 near the boundary against the Bulldogs at the SCG.

Was watching the season highlights DVD to jog my memory and its amazing how many goals JPK kicked by being front and center to a contested marking situation in our forward 50

I also love hanners gf goal, just the gesture, like we got this, loved it.

Also loved jets celebration for his 3rd goal against Collingwood, the downwards fist pump. Jets had so many amazing flashy goals it'd be hard to pick a favourite

Finals series goals top 5

1. Malkeski's goal to win it (favourite overall goal of 2012)
2. Jetta's full field goal in Prelim
3. Hannerbery's goal in GF last quarter
4. Goodes first goal of the game in the QF
5. Jude Bolton's sealer in his 300th

Season top 10:

1. Everitt's winner against the Cats - was at the game doing my work experience in the ABC commentary box with Tadgh Kennelly, Mark Maclure. Then had to race down stairs for last 5 minutes, everyone was screaming, yelling so loud during the last few minutes, then everyone just erupted when Everitt kicked the winner.
2. Jetta's winner against Essendon after Essendon were coming back hard...he made it 86-76. Watched that goal on replay over and over for the next couple of weeks.
3. Kieran Jacks sealer against the Saints at the SCG. Crowd erupted.
4. Jettas full field boundary goal against the Dogs in round 10 - definitely should have been considered more closely for goal of the year.
5. Goodes' last goal against the Hawks in round 5 in his 300th after his specky.
6. McGlynn's volley goal against Melbourne? I think it was.
7. Morton's first goal for us against the dogs. Felt so happy for him after he worked so hard to get a spot, then came on as a sub and made an immediate impact.
8. Birds goal against WCE at subi - we'd already won, but what a fantastic goal it was. Just kicked it up in the air from the boundary then it floated in.
9. McVeighs goal against Freo at the SCG in round 2. Was the second goal of the match, Kieran Jack made an amazing run through the middle, blind turning players, then about 4 chains of handballs up until 25 metres out where McVeigh squeezed it in. Was a great team goal.
10. McGlynn's late goal against the Pies late in the season - Still ended up losing by 8, but I remember McGlynn's goal with 30 seconds left to get us back to 2 points behind.

I like this thread. Makes me happy. :thumbsu:

Got so many great goals in mind already... I'll stick with finals though.

1. Have to say Goodesys last qrtr GF dribbler is the first one that comes to mind. On one leg... "commeth the champion".

2. Mitch Morto's assist to Kizzas non-slip-over goal also comes to mind as well not just due to the fact it showed how Morton had bought into the culture but also how much Dermie & co. complained and complained about it after which showed the big difference between a Paul Roos (read: Blood) and a Dermie (read: Ego).

3. Hanners always inspires me. He has a habit of amazing displays of courage or popping up for moments of brilliance when you think he shouldn't/can't. Captain material IMO.

4.5.6.7.8. Jettas ridiculous amount of awesome goals all slot in between these... His cracker against the Pies was very memorable.

9. Reidys slingshot was outstanding and got me jumping round, high fiving pumped. He is a massive key to our future success. More of that Reidy thankyou very much mate!

10. JPK's goal is (like grimlock mentioned) something he does very well. It's also such a subtle part of his game which I believe many people don't fully appreciate. He ranked 5th at the club for avg goals last year however most people would find it hard to look past his midfield/clearance work and unfortunately skim over his direct impact on the scoreboard.
