Will Watts be the next full forward of Adelaide? I heard he is very talented and has a bit of size about him. What's his form like and when will he crack the seniors? The Crows seem to be struggling getting a forward to play well consistently. Perrie and Welsh bob up at different stages but don't kick goals every week.

His SANFL form warrants AFL action. One would think he will play in the next fortnight.

Can we just get this completely straight.

FERGUS WATTS CANNOT PLAY FF, HE IS A CHF!

In his senior career he has not played a good game at FF whereas when he is moved up the ground he provides a good target and genrally plays well!

At least put him on the bench - particularly against a lower team like carlton so we can see whether he has it or not

I'm with you on this one.

If and when Watts does get his crack at it this season, I hope he's given a stint at CHF, because he certainly plays better there.

He seems to like to have the room to move around.

I will slightly disagree with you and jo172 just because I am in one of those moods where I like to play devils advocate :p

Last year Fergus Watts played his best game out of FF, where he took 6 or 7 marks including a ripper where he was flying into the pack with the flight with no regard for his safety. He also kicked 3.1 and played a sensational quarter where he got WWT back into the game so to say he hasn't played a good game at FF is wrong.

I also agree that he appears to like space (as does every forward) and is more suited to CHF. However, its is absolutely imperative that Fergus adds a bit more versatility to his game. There is absolutely no reason why he wouldn't be able to play as a FF. He should learn to play both CHF and FF equally well because there will come a time where the coach has to make a move to play Fergus closer to goal or further out. Some backman are a bit uncomfortable in unknown positions. Someone like Mal Michael feel a bit uncomfortable at CHB. So for argument sake when Michael lines up on Watts it would be good to move Watts to CHF and make Michael feel uncomfortable. Also there are some CHBs in the league who are uncomfortable playing deep so we should exploit that by moving Fergus to FF.

In todays game you need versatility and that means playing at least 3 KP. We know Fergus can play CHB and CHF and for his sake as well as the sake of the team, I would like him to also keep developing into a player who can play CHF and FF equally well. This would provide more headaches for the oppositions down the track as well us give us a lot more flexibility.

Out: Perrie, IN: Watts.

PLEASE!

Just touching on this point, did Perrie go missing for a long period against the Saints or was it just me ? - Was he benched ?

If we were to make this move it would potentially make our group of KPP's quite young.

Bock, Rutten and Watts all KPP < 30 games each, in the same team. Is this a good idea ?

Truck doesn't play like a bloke with less than 30 games under his belt though.

I will be extremely surprised if Fergus Watts is selected tonight, (26th of May) and would not be surprised at all to see his form take a dive south for a few weeks. Simply because he has been up (emotionally with the talk of selection) for a few weeks and the disappointment of not being selected (vs. the Saints) may have got to his head, this may effect his performance resulting in a bad game or two isn’t to far away.

But that’s just a theory I have.

Where can I read more about this theory? Is it available in novelised form?

Excuse my intrusion.

Hypothetically, if Watts wanted to return to Vic - and no-one is suggesting for a moment that he does - I'd offer Cam Faulkner for him.

Cam was taken a year before Watts and has played 10 games, 4 this year.

I know the Crows were keen when we drafted him - the next Andrew McLeod (you're recruiting guy, not ours). More like Byron Pickett, loves to crash.

Sorry, Cooney and Griffen can't be traded because of the Heffernan rule - oh, and because we're not completely stupid.

No deal

Haven't seen much of Faulkner to be honest but we have a more important need for a key forward than another running type. So even if they were equal value playing wise I don't think we'd go for it. I know we rated Faulkner highly at draft time but whether we still rate him that highly is another matter.

We've searched for years and years for a key forward without much success. Watts therefore plays an important part in our future and if we were to lose him we'd really need to look at replacing him with a key forward.
