Whats the deal with him? He is a high draft pick, and highly sort after by the Saints to get him from Adelaide, where is he after 6 games total, in 3 years. Will he come good, or will he go like Luke Livingston.

Watts suffered a spiral fracture of his leg this year, which is an abnormal fracture which takes longer to heal and is a little more haphazard. I am not sure but he may have made an appearance or two late in the year from Casey.

I believe that he can provide all important depth and versatility this year, and when Fraser retires can slot into the full-forward spot and provide a marking target. At 197cm tall he is certainly no midget, taller than any other possible key forward except for ruckmen/forwards Brooks & Kosi.

I like this bloke. He's a big size and is very capable of taking a strong grab and kicking goals. But the delivery to their forwards from the midfield is just so vital and critical for them to kick a winning score each week. Lyon will introduce his new game plan, strategies and tactics which are guarranteed to be far better than Grant Thomas', in my opinion to say the least.

He kicked a goal with his first kick for the saints in round 1 v WCE, before breaking his leg in the same match.

He was originally listed as out for the season but played a handful of games for the Scorpions. I think he was amoungst the goals a bit in these matches but did an ankle at some stage after coming back from the leg break. Apparently he can play a bit though, the famous example of this being when he kicked a bag in a prelim in the SANFL (something like eight goals) last year.

The broken leg happened in a VFL match a few weeks after his Saints debut but I agree with the rest of your post.

He has good size and can take a mark. One of the major question marks hanging over him was his lack of pace and in the few games I saw I didn't think he was as slow as some had made out.

He's definitely in our plans and quite frankly the comparison with Livingston is ridiculous.

I was a little surprised the Saints went after him last year. I would have thought your forward line was top heavy enough with Gehrig, Hamill and Riewoldt already there.
But with Fergus there... it allows roo to play up the ground abit.. and with fraser coming to the end, and hamill and kosi never fit we need him. he will stand up and dominate

Oh yeah, I stand corrected. I think I thought that because he did not do anything much except that goal in his first game. Nice spot.

ok, but in all seriousness fergus only went to the saints because of his fathers position within the club.
he would have benefited his career much more if he'd gone to say a Western Bulldogs or a Hawthorn

Regardless of what one eyed stkilda fans say....fergus isnt quick...even taking into consideration his size and hieght.

....But his no midfielder so he should get by with his talent.

I hadn't seen him before the first Saints game, but I thought he was painfully slow. But if he's 6"6" and can take a grab he'll get by.
