I have been wanting to get a pet ferret for ages now & have just learned that a friend has some baby ones for sale, so my question is, have you had a ferret & if so how do you find them as pets.

Just wondering what they are like with their eating habits, if you can have them pretty much free range in the house without them disappearing, like mice & rats tend to do & are they friendly pets, or standoffish like cats.

Any info would be welcome.

Will you name it Rohan?

Please, lets try and avoid discussing Rohan and ferret handling in the same thread!

Could get very messy. Remember the "quick fingers" discussion yesterday in the "ring tones" thread? I'm still getting over that one!

In fact i'm getting the bad feeling he's not too far away so i'm gettin outta here. Rohan handling his angry ferrit is something i DO NOT want to be around to see....

Ooooooh! Now i'm having visions of Rohan lying on his bed, legs in the air, tube aimed at the roof and firing his angry ferret across his bedroom from his....

... ok now i might be taking things just a little far.

Speaking of far, you should see how far he can shoot his ferret! Awesome muscle control!

OI people this is a serious question.

Is anyone able to answer the actual topic please, without sexual references.

When I think of a ferret, I think of an animal with a mullet.

I'm confused, RF1.
Just bringing this to the top, I can't believe no one from BF has ever owned a ferret. :( come on people please, just want to make sure I am making the right decision before I get one.

Bee

Don't worry about Kenny, their introduction will be very gradual until I am sure that they can play nicely together. ;)

Sorry Mantis, but the closest pets I have to a ferret are my two rats. Can't say I can help you in ferret training! :(

Thanks for that Thrawn, I have had a pet rat as well, but I think ferrets might have to be trained differently, that is what I am trying to find out, otherwise it will have to be trial & error I guess.

.. Considering your on B/F probably not :D

I haven't ever owned a ferret but did work for a Vet who did.. Can't say they impressed me too much, but that was probably more to do with the owner than the ferrets themselves.

From what I saw though (I had to handle them every day) they were very well trained, non-agressive, friendly but not over affectionate (kinda like a cat I guess), and very very VERY smelly.. PEU! :)

ANDERSON!!

WOOHOO thanks Grendel, I was having trouble deciding between Peverill & JJ for it's name, but Harvs is perfect, can't wait to see Harvs face when I tell him I named my ferret after him. :D
