Fev for Rivers

A mate at work is a dees fan and reckons Fevola for Rivers and Melbournes no.1 draft pick is a fair swap. I disagree. Thoughts????

Why would Melbourne want Neitz and Fevola and Holland to pack up the forward line? Not to mention Bruce, Robertson, Yze, Green, Davey etc.

Melbourne doesn't need any more forwards, what they actually lack are some key backmen. Giving away Rivers wouldn't be the right move for Melbourne's future.

However, if Melbourne were actually stupid enough to put forward such a deal, then I might consider it.

A Fevola trade would almost certainly see Whitnall retained for next year. Our forward line probably wouldn't have too many problems either since Waite, Fisher, and Whitnall are still very handy players.

Thanks for the articles mate. Don't know whether to believe the Blues would really trade Fevola or are just talking it up and saying Whitnall, Camporeale and Lappin are required players so that other clubs become more interested in those 3.

Fevola kicks bags of goals for us, given full fitness and a decent midfield he could kick 100 goals in a season - not many players in the league you could say that about. Having said this he would give us a top 7 pick maybe another pick and a good player. Is it worth it? Either he or Whitnall probably need to leave to freshen up the list and get us more early draft picks.

interesting deal.

IMO rivers and thornton are similar types, we need a big solid FB
fev is important to our structure, losing him would leave a pretty big hole

Fev is way too good to let go unless it is a dream deal. Two top 5 picks would be a deal that could be considered. He is an elite footballer physically and skill wise .. we all seem to agree that his head is his problem.

Unless we get the dream deal I feel we have to keep him. It will be a perfect chance for Denis and co to really prove their worth. Make it their business to really go deep and understand Fev's problems and take steps to get the best out of him. They may not be shrinks but today's footy departments have to be more than just footy brains.. they have to get the best out of their players emotionally and physically.

Sooner or later the Carlton Footy Club has to grow some balls. This doesn't mean kicking out every talented but wayward talent. It means finding talent and getting maximum output. Other clubs can do it.. we have to do it too!!!
