I have to ask if there is a single Carlton supporter out there that believes that if this had happened after round 18 last year, that they would not have taken the higher ground and suspended him for the rest of the year because it didnt mean squat.
This time round they have a reason to win so there is no way that would make the hard call and stand up to be counted by suspending him for even 1 week

It is all in the timing.

Technically yes, but not in the manner you are implying i.e later in the season want to lose, earlier in the season want to win. Quite simply, once you are out of the finals race, you can afford to make statements, try new players, tinker with gameplans. Coming into round 1, it is all alive still.

To answer your question though, we did suspend Fev prior to round 18 last year for behavioural issues. Kind of throws out your theory doesn't it?

Fev has a problem. Suspension has not worked previously, and it is not likely to work just because we play the Tigers in round 1. That is the underlying issue.

We need to find other ways to get through to Fev.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Fev has had only ONE during-the-season off-field alcohol related incident over the past 2 years. It's still not acceptable, but the media are making out that it's happening every 2nd week for the past 2 years. He needs to be punished, but at the same time we need to ignore the anti-Carlton media hysteria, and make a decision based on the facts. And also address the cause i.e Fevs alcohol problem.
