this is the best FIFA in years im not even kidding the first touch control is great and sliding tackles are improved they look hook there body around now
absolutely

played a game, it's just so, so much better than 12. and 12 was bloody brilliant. hint. stay away from dzeko. had a first touch in the box, went flying. too realistic.

turned it down to professional, 2-1 up on juve at h/t with milan. pato and robinho is a ridiculous partnership. both have so much control, must have skipped past 2-3 defenders before rounding buffon (who gave away the pen). not a bad first goal :p

the shooting system seems changed. tried to hit a volley with tevez from outside the box, mistimed it and it didn't still fly off the boot into row z, it quite embarrassingly came off the side of the boot and dribbled out, heskey style. everything seems more fluid, the one touch system doesn't really have an effect if you play a short, sharp style like i do, but if you're playing long ball it's going to open up chances for defenders to easily cut in and start a movement.

keepers seem smarter (although abbiati just had a shocker of a header bounce past from pirlo) with double/triple saves which should see less and less people holding down y, it's also easier to chip in this game. i'd bet there are less wondergoals in this, and when they do happen, they'll be something special, whereas in 12 they could feel a bit cheap with so many players able to time volleys perfectly.

Agree about the keepers being smarter/better in 13 can really tell.

The little updates the commentators give about players IRL are really a cool welcome addition for instance there where talking about Buffon retiring.

Through balls have a little more power about them, they also curve as opposed to holding that straight line they had on the ground and in the air in '12.

Defenders are stronger in body to body contests, but the change in dribbling allows easier movements to get away from them or even pass them after facing up to them -> backing down -> sprinting around them using acceleration.

Shots look more natural on screen, keepers get to shots more often but from first impression don't seem to hold onto them as easily, midfielders seem to have better tackling ability compared to '12 (tackling all around seems to be more realistic, I think this is due heavily to the first touch) and Boateng is OP.

just hit my first belter with yaya. hit it from about 25 yards, and it curves so much i thought it took a deflection, in the end, it went AROUND big per. sublime.

strength seems to be just as important as speed. put mario into the starting lineup, and the difference is startling. had him as a 1 on 1 with per with a lofted through ball, per, who is in front, sort of positions himself in front of mario, not allowing mario to break past and get the ball. meanwhile, in another, mario has the ball, and is strong enough to fend per off, but while he's kind of off balance, verm picks the ball off his feet. very good to see, it seems that out and out pace wont win you games like it did in 12.

My first goal was an absolute bullet from Yaya well outside the box, launched into Vermaelen's back and that chipped it over the keeper haha.

Best way to describe the new 'feel' of the game would be that the ball and player feel seperated. There is no bias toward the player with the ball at his feet.

I also expect to see way more goals as a result of the defending team aimlessly passing the ball around deep in defense. An agile forward running between trying to get a tackle is just as likely to gain possession from a defenders shit first touch.

Ok im starting to get a bit concered i have played about 6 games now and they have all finished 0-0 im playing on world class and finding it incredibly hard to score and so is the CPU
Would you rather win 5-0 or lose 0-5? I remember when I got FIFA 12, I struggled to score a goal for a long while. It's to be expected with an altered system, I suppose.

i can foresee a lot of messy shots from people who press b to tackle a defender, yet their sloppy first touch make the ball fall into the lap of the striker, and you look pretty silly after hitting row z from 40 yards
