I about a months time, the most anticpated footablling game ever will be on our stands and i certainly will be one of the first to buy it.
This years game by all accounts will be even more realistic than version previous and includes features such as new ball physics, player al assist, crowd chants specific to teams, enhanced player graphics and the best part extended team/season management.

That includes taking over a team say wolves, going well with them and then being offered a mangerial post by a chelsea or arsenal if ypour reputation is soaring. Likwise if your are to take over a Liverpool and dont get results, the players gain respect or whatever and play better and if not, you loose and get sacked. I cant wait to get it for the xbox.

Thoughts? Who else will be getting FIFA 2004 asap.

More info at http://xbox.ign.com

i'm definitely getting it...for the ps2....EA sports should have introduced the freestyle control ages ago...2002 was ok...2003 was good but 2004 will be even better....EA sports makes a much better game than the Pro Evolution Soccer people.

check some great screen shots here:

Always buy the FIFA series no questions asked...

People crap on about PES/TIF/ISS etc having better gameplay, but for me it's all about realism and simulation - and as far as FIFA goes you get that both on and off the field.

People crap on about the Pro Evolution series ('Winning Eleven' in Japan) because for pure football action and complete gameplay realism ON the field, FIFA isn't even in the same league.

I play Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution regularly with a mate. We can play 30min games (real time) and end up 0-0. (that might sound boring but believe me it's not. :) )

The game will go through waves - as a real football match does.

One team might get on top for a while and put the pressure on, and then the other team may grab the upper hand for a while. The pace and variety of moves you have access to (ALL serve their purpose too, and are implemented flawlessly) is huge and all helps to create a more varied game.

Compare that to FIFA's style of 10min 5-4 goal bonanzas.......

Pfft.

Seriously - there's nothing in FIFA that compares to playing a 30min Pro Evo game against a friend and being 0-0 in the 88th min and still trying to put away a goal. :)

Pro Evo has the two things you need for a good sports game - realism and variety.

FIFA has neither of these when it comes to the gameplay, although the presentation in FIFA is slick and is a notch or two better than Pro Evo/WE. (Pro Evo is still presented VERY nicely though - I actually find it fun to listen to the Spanish/Italian/German commentary. It is less distracting since you don't notice repeated phrases as often as you do listening to the English commentary. :) And in a way, that makes the presentation more realistic too.)

The overall realism of the gameplay in Pro Evo/WE is, in my opinion, unmatched by ANY other team sports videogame. (and my life = videogames. No I'm not a slacker. ;) )

If you fancy yourself as a soccer fan, you're crazy if you don't get this game sooner or later. (wait for Pro Evolution 3 which should be out here before the end of the year.....it's already out in Japan under the name Winning Eleven 7)

Sorry if this sounds a bit like a review (no - I've never written one lol) but I seriously believe that all soccer fans owe it to themselves to play this game.

I used to be a huge FIFA fan too, but Pro Evolution stole the crown the moment the first version was released.

Also, don't get confused - ISS is a different game by a different developer. (same publisher - Konami - but different game different developer.........TIF isn't even worth mentioning)

You want Pro Evolution.

My slightly more than 2c.

Ill probably get FIFA 2004 but thats only because I cant get Pro Evo. Ive got an XBox so Pro Evo is out of the equation, so I have to settle for FIFA. It will be alright but Id rather Pro Evo.

Pro Evolution for me, but will be interested to see what FIFA 2004 will be like so might have to try both before i buy.

Only rumours as far as I know.

Although I do know that Winning Eleven 7 (the latest Pro Evo/WE game) has been released on Gamecube in Japan, so maybe an Xbox release may happen at some point down the track..... ?
