File names showing in blue instead of black

On a mates computer his files show in blue along with some programs etc. It does not effect how they run im just wondering why some are blue and most are black....

Yea I have had to same problem once before. Im still not sure. It was when I formatted my computer so maybe that has some relation.

In my case, the programs didnt work.

its not a problem, i am pretty sure the ones in blue are system files

Some are just Microsoft Word files etc.... Reformat ?

Not a virus. It means that the file(s) are compressed. Blue is compressed. Green encrypted. Black means neither encrypted or compressed.

I thought it may be something like that considering its 6 Gig harddrive and has about 900 meg free so nothing to worry about ?

No. Most people will come across files with blue text. I mean, I can't guarantee its not a virus, but compressed files have blue text so you shouldn't really worry.

You can go to 'tools>options>show encrypted and compressed files in colour' to check.
