Woohoo a fellow QBasic tragic!!!

Hmm I don't use SUBS very often myself.

In fact, the program was written so long ago there's still heaps of Line Numbers in my version!

If you want variables to be set in a SUB and then be used by the main program, I'm not fully sure how to do it, or even if you can.

I know that if you set variables in the main program, and want them used by a sub, then wyou have to do something with them, can't remember what ... COMMON them or something ... otherwise they go into the sub with values of zero.

I notice that they program doesn't come with any other files ... so therefore the whole shebang is kept within the program's memory? If so, you may find that the memory won't last, there's only so much to go around. Maybe that's something to do with the module too long message.

Oops, I missed what you meant originally, you're saying you DON'T use SUBS ... well that's cool cause as I said either do I.

I can't find a 'module' related error message in the QBasic error codes ... not sure what it means, how long is the program (in lines if you open it with Word or something)? Surely it couldn't be THAT big.

Mine's a bit over 1700 lines, though there's another couple of dozen programs as well, also included in running the whole thing.

Have you tried searching the web (eg google) for the error message?

well my program is very very very long

actually now i dont wanna use SUBS but i wanna learn how to put all of my x = y statements in a DATA or TXT file and just get the program to read it

i dont think its really an error btw

since i have everything just in the one AFL.BAS file and no data files or subs or anything there is a limit of how many lines it can be

do u know a short n simple command that lets the program read the DATA file that i can just write my self in notepad.

basically i just wanna have the exact same info that i currently have in the AFL.BAS file in a .TXT or .DATA file

if u could post or MSN message me some help on this it would be appreciated cya

i think i have finally gotten everything sorted so i have have lots of commands on the one line which is hard to read as a programmer but of course this doesnt affect how it looks on the actually game screen

also now there is no longer an editor in the game

i took that out because of various issues but one good thing is all the players names are now in .TXT documents so they are easily editable and if u stay within the boundaries u will avoid the names beeing messy on the screen which was a problem before

also this way those edited players will stay like that forever instead of reverting back to wat they originally were.

PROGRESS REPORT:
4 teams fully completed
4 player documents completed
results page half completed (coaches report and venue still to come)

plz post ya feed back

u can d/l the demo from http://www.cybersportcentral.tk

that has a few old features such as the in game editor instead of the notepad documents but its still a nice lil sample of da game

the release date is actually now going to be early

wats the month after august?

anyway it will be then sorri

it takes time and effort and i dont wanna release it to early
