As soon as Melbourne got a run on Pavlich former all Australian should have been put down back imediately.
Conolly took his time but at least he did it, I mean Pavlich sure his first position is Midfield but he's still our best backman while McPharlin is out.

Havent watched the 2nd half yet ... just about too.

But CC does have the cattle to release Pavlich down back when needed

It was a great win by the Dockers. It looks like that they have solved the travel problems that they had.

I completely disagree. What can Pavlich do with the ball that Bell, Hasleby and co can't do with it when bringing it out of the guts?

Pavlich is a wasted talent in the guts, forward or back, where he is most damaging.

Hes kicking goals from the midfield and he is a long and penetrating kick of the likes of headland, somthing at freo that is in short supply.
Playing in the middle means he sets up wall stoping the ball from being cleared out of our forward line from kick outs and keeping the ball in our forwardline from kick outs.
Ok sure hes not overly fast the point is most of the time opposition players cant bring him down anyway.

Something he could be doing playing at CHF.

He could achieve both of these playing at either CHF or CHB.

Putting him in the guts is just a strange move, from my point of view. He is a classic strong, tall, CHF/CHB style player. Play him where he is the most damaging.

I reckon start him at half back or half forward and let him run up/down the ground. He is more effective when he is running through the midfield from half back than he is starting in the square IMO.

We have been sucking at clearances so I think we have to look at our midfield setup.

My biggest critism of Pavlich is that from what i have seen he isnt overly strong overhead.
He lacks the marking ability of Polak or longmuir who are deadly around packs.
Just as they lack his penetrating kick and accuracy, why I would put Pavlich on a wing opposed to in the center.
Let him play a Headland role where he is solely a receiver.

Pavlich is best suited to being one out, like Carey. He is extremely good at using his body to outmark his opponents. He just doesn't have the space up forward to be one out like that.
