With Essendon's final bye for the season now out of the way, we have a few weeks before the finals.

The ladder looks like this after the weekend:

1. Williamstown (48)
2. Casey (44)
3. Collingwood (44)
4. Port Melbourne (40)
5. Sandringham (36)
6. Footscray (36)
7. Geelong (32)
8. ESSENDON (28)
----------------------------------
9. Werribee (24)
10. Northern Blues (24)
11. Box Hill (20)
12. Richmond (20)
13. Coburg (20)
14. Frankston (8)
15. North Ballarat (8)

Essendon's fixture with 4 weeks to go reads as follows:

Casey (away - this Saturday night)
Williamstown (home - August 14)
North Ballarat (away - August 20)
Northern Blues (home - August 27)

Geelong has:

Frankston (home - Saturday)
Richmond (away - August 14 twilight)
Casey (home - August 21)
Port Melbourne (away - August 27)

Werribee has:

Box Hill (away - Sunday)
Casey (away - August 14)
Footscray (home - August 21)
Sandringham (home - August 28)

Northern Blues have:

Richmond (home - Saturday)
BYE
Williamstown (home - August 20)
Essendon (away - August 27)

We'll stay in. Werribee will get smacked in the last 3 rounds, Blues win this week and not the other two, and we'll win our last 2 weeks. Geelong will go 2-2 as well.

Werribee torched Northern Blues yesterday (it's not often these days you kick 15 goals and get absolutely smashed). Percentage is also critical, as Footscray's low percentage may present problems for it. Percentage currently is 100.97%, with Williamstown, BYE, Werribee and Collingwood the last 4 weeks.

A night game at Casey. Have they had an upgrade of the ground there to host night games?

anyone against loading up the VFL team for the remainder of the year?

Throughout our history we have won vfl or reserves flags the year proir to winning afl flags... its a great proving ground for finals and succesfull experiences.

drop a few good kids out of the senior team for some good groundings and finals footy?

i think the club should look to making sure the VFL do well. The VFL team provided a lot of joy for the fans after a tough year for the AFL side.

Francis, Morgan, McKenna, Nyuon, Merrett, Long, Polks, Ashby, Jamar, Redman, Kommer, Grimley, Michael, Edwards, McKernan, Wallis, Hams and Eades are currently eligible, with Simpkin 1 game away from qualification and Grima and Crowley 2 games. McKenna needs 3 more games in seniors to be ineligible, and Hams the same.

18 eligible plus Holmes, Coghlan, Freezer, Jack Langford, Peart, A. Heppell....

Certainly a lot of experience going into the finals.

Reckon we'll see Hams, McKenna, Eades, Morgan miss finals through too many senior games/injury, but with Grima, Crowley and Simpkin. So it'd look something like:

Heppell - Freezer - Ferry
Francis - Grima - McNeice
J Merrett - Coghlan - Long
Redman - McKernan - Crowley
Polkinghorne - Grimley - Michael
Jamar - Simpkin - Wallis
Nyuon - Ashby - Kommer - Heavyside - Holmes*

The opportunity might've passed by already. Anyone with a handle on the rules be able to sort us out a list of eligible players please? :rainbow:

Pretty fair side Egan would have to work with there - suspect Jack Langford gets in before Heavyside given goals scored by him.

To Victorian fans maybe :p
It's been a shit year for us interstaters.

Langford misses due to being extremely top heavy with Jamar, Michael, McKernan, Nyuon and Grimley all there.
