Finals Concerns

Ladies and Gentlemen of Big Footy,

I have a concern re: Finals.

In short, I have never seen the Doggies win a final..... I mean, we've won finals while I've been alive, but never while I have been in attendance....

I saw the two losing finals in 85... Missed the winning game v North (?)
I saw the two losing finals in 92... Missed the win over the Saints.
Saw Brownless kick the goal after the siren in 94.....

Moved interstate in 97 and only just got back to Melbourne.....

What do I do come finals time ???

Mate it is not you and that is old history.

Come along and enjoy.
I will be there and I bought a new pair of Mack boots this year just to wear to the footy.
Every time I have attended wearing those we have won.
It's all good.

I knocked up watching Dunstall and Matthews snapping goals.

Bought an old hat and an old Bulldog scarf(like Dr Who wears) from the princess hill school fete late last year

That's what I'm hoping, but do I wait until the GF ?? Or go early and maybe waste the win on an unimportant game we may have won anyway ???

Had a pretty pitiful run with finals since i was about 8 (I'm 19 now) Was surrounded by Adelaide supporters when we got done by 2 points in '97' which is the worst i've ever felt, although saw us smash Sydney when they had the minutes silence for Diana which was good Then saw us smash West Coast at the G before getting smashed by Matthew Robran.(Always knew we were in trouble when Wallace put Rohan Smith on him)

I've been a member pretty much ever since i was born and up until when we defeated Hawthorn by about 10 points at the telstra dome in 2005 (i think) the last time i saw the bulldogs win in person was the QF against West Coast in 1998 and i saw maybe 8-10 games a year.

Surrounded by Collingwood supporters when we beat them by 10 goals in the QF in 2005 which was a beautiful feeling considering some of the stupid fools were already singing their song at quartre time.

Don't really have any concerns about this year, if we don't do well i still think we have a good enough team to challenge the next few years, right up until the tigers or freo make finals.

It was enjoyable to watch but before Quarter Time it was so goddam irritating, This one bloke would keep turning around to my cousin who was only about 11-12 i think and start dribbling bullshit about how he should change sides and save himself some embarrassment. Couldn't really understand him he'd probably been drinking since the night before with his 10 yr old daughter.

My father came to Australia from Austria and lived in flats across the road from the Western Oval. He went to a few games the first year he arrived and was hooked. He has been a member ever since.
He has passed this on to me, and i have passed it on to my son.
He arrived in Australia in ................. February 1955. He missed the premiership by 5 months.
For the past 25 years i've been trying to convince him it's time to go back and live in Austria, maybe he's the jinx

Hey TedDougChris going by your theory I think its in the best of the Bulldogs and their supporters if you don't watch any Bulldogs finals games this year.

These are good problems to have.

If the main concern we have about the finals is the fact that we have never won coincides with some guys attendance at those games...

I've only been to one live finals match and the doggies won (collingwood in 2006). So my record is 100% and i'll be going to the finals this year so maybe i'll even out your bad luck teddougchris.

Oh yeah my brother is a collingwood supporter and to really stick it up him i got my ticket of the match framed.

I have also been to one finals game and it was that pies game.

Me and my sister went and when we booked tickets we thought we were on the wing. Turned out we were at the behind post up Collingwoods end.

Ahh what a great day. Giving it to Collingwood supporters as they were leaving
