Finding Ethernet Controller Drivers for my PC

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I had to reinstall Windows (XP) due to an external drive failure destroying my existing Windows.

The reinstall left me with no internet connection, which I've believe is due to
the lack of drivers for connecting.

No end of browsing has told me nothing, I can't work out what drivers Im meant to get.

Anyone know?

Thanks, I gathered every bit of info I could find cause I knew Id have to tell someone.

MS Windows XP
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)
IBM NetVista (Intel Pentium 4 - 1800)
OS: Dell Reinstallation CD MS Windows XP Professonal SP 2

ACPI Uniprocessor PC
Motherboard Chipset: Intel Brookdale-G i845G
BIOS: Phoenix (08/08/02)

Primary IP Address: [TRIAL VERSION]
Primary MAC Address: 00-00-00-00-00-00

Ethernet Controller
Driver Description - PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_1039&SUBSYS_02671014&REV_81
PCI Device - Intel 82801DB ICH4 - LAN Controller with 82562ET/EZ PHY

It seems the "8" number you speak of is probably the 82801DB ??? Or is it the 82562ET ???

Thanks for the advice you gave. I'm on that DriverZone site now, but its categorised by some sort of company names ... I wouldn't have a clue whether Im meant to look under Dell (Win XP Inst Disk), NetVista (something written on the PC), Intel (something else written on the PC), IBM (seems to be the company that mad the PC), or what

the top one.

they're in release date order - newest 1st. doesn't much matter, but take the top one, less scrolling :)
Oops ok well I chose the first one I could find that was 32 bit because I can run QBASIC which would have to mean I'm not 64 bit. :D

But it worked! Here I am (rock me in your arms etc etc)

Thanks you very much sean!

Big Jugs, I'll check your link anyway, as if its handy enough, I'll bookmark it for the next time something like this happens :)

That took me like 20 seconds of googling your system info. :p

Glad you got it working, you might want to go and save the drivers for your system on a backup USB drive or disk.

These drivers for old stuff don't stay on the net forever.
