It was interseting to see Alan Didaks stats on "On The Couch" last night.
We all saw how good Didak was on Saturday night.
They had his stats for his FIRST 50 Games. He averaged NINE possessions a game.
We have a fair few blokes who have played under 50 games so there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.Gerard Healy said it is normal for a player to take that long to really establish themseves.I would think four or five of our "under 50's" have a higher average than 9 with other outstanding stats as well!!!

Moore will hit 50 games in round 19 if he continues to play all round till then i think its really good work

I mean i know Moores had an up and down season but i think after a awesome 1st year its hard to settle back in i think when he gets a good preseason in next year he will be great

Didak was nothing special for his first 8 years or so. He's really only turned it on in the past couple of seasons. The problem is that Didaks 9 disposals a game in his first 50 probably hit a hell of a lot more targets that any of our sub 50 gamers do at this point.

and i thought it was all down

probably unrelated to the OP, but i would like to say that moore should be used more as a lead-up target... he has a built body to not be pushed around, will releive hall from being the main man, and will get moore into the game

What this demonstrates is that it is hard - nay, nigh impossible - to accurately predict how good a decent player is capable of becoming in the first couple of seasons of senior footy they play. Plenty burst onto the scene and look the goods early, have everyone proclaiming them to be the next Chris Judd, but then fail to really go on with it. Others struggle to even get consistent games early in their careers and then blossom into fantastic players in their mid-20s.

Which is why we really have no idea whether our list is going to provide a season or two or short term pain, or whether we are in for an extensive "rebuild".

Didak was pretty good on Sat. night but he was made to look better because he had an opponent that wasn't at his best. Crouchy was made to look real bad by Didak. But the buck, IMO, stops with the selectors of the team for playing him. Don't let a player make the call that he is 'fit enough' to play a major role in a crucial "season defining game" as Roos said it was.
That was like an elimination final the other night.
We lost.
But now the next generation will slowly get their confidence. With MOL ann his retirement, Roos & co have a better idea of what we need to do in this draft, & who else to maybe push off the list if they are not up to it in these remaining 10 games.
