Its my aunty. She had a bad experience with water as a kid. Is scared.. she says and i quote "freaks out when she puts her head under the water" .

I had a think.

I was thinking of trying to teach her a. in the shallow end of course. But b. with huge goggles and a mask. So when she puts her head in the water- she can see clearly and can still breathe???

She thought that may be a good idea and was open to it

Get her head ducking under the water briefly, up to fully submerging and most importantly exhaling (blowing bubbles) would be a good start. Eventually open eyes briefly with and without goggles (harder if indoor heated pool, ouch)

Work up to floating on back and front, noodle is easier at the start then a kick board. Then up to without any aid. Then add in kicking...

It's all just simple progressions learning how to swim really.
