Oooh got swimming carnival this Friday.

25 degrees and partly cloudy. Thank you weather gods, thank you very much indeed.

/have done a SC in 34+ weather and it was ******* horrid, even with the venue being an indoors one.
We have 34, 36, 36, 36 and 37.

A little warm but I'll take that over cold even though I shouldn't have to get in that much.

ps indoor pools suck!

It was good in that, there was no need for sunscreen the entire day.

But it was just like an oven, it was horrible. Even with all the doors open it was just... just a gross day all round. This week is going to be much better and more comfortable. Couldnt have asked for better weather conditions tbh. Not too cold for the kids swimming, and also comfortable for the staff/those not swimming.

And our new recruit torq :thumbsu:

Cheers Shell.

I first started watching MAFS a couple of years ago because I was genuinely interested in the experiment. I quickly realised that the show was more of a reality tv soap opera based on matchmaking. I imagine First Dates is closer to the whole concept of watching strangers meet and find romance in a less intrusive and manipulated environment. I have seen clips of the the UK version of First Dates on Gogglebox; the viewers seem genuinely invested in some of the participants and the outcome.

Have you heard about the American version of MAFS? Ive never seen it but apparently the marriage is 100% legal and its very different to our show.

No, never seen any foreign versions of MAFS. It's bizarre that anyone would legit marry someone sight unseen. Apparently the whole toxic psycho-drama of our MAFS makes it so popular in the UK. Our finest export since Dame Edna.

I would have assumed its completely illegal anyway to get married sight unseen. (As well as other reasons ie. Drunk)

Pretty sure US requires blood tests before marriage too. Probably to check they're not actually brother and sister!

Good idea.. especially in some of those southern states. Lol.
🤣

Foolish perhaps, but not illegal. I doubt the wedding celebrants are actual priests/pastors.
You have to apply for a marriage certificate tho, minimum 30 days prior? Altho maybe you can do this separately idk.

My mate also told me they had to attend sessions with a priest before they got married in the church. We both had a good laugh at that

That does sound kinda interesting..
One stand out was a groom organising a wedding in Vegas. But the deal is they cover pretty much ALL the costs of the wedding, so he couldnt invite the whole family due to flights + hotel costs.

The bride gets taken to the airport with her sister, anyway the sister acts like a complete bitch and chucks a wobbly and refuses to board the plane, thus making the bride breakdown in tears. Eventually the bride does get on the plane and goes to Vegas but the sister (her maid of honor) refuses and goes home.

In the end- they all had a great time in Vegas, except for the poor bride having to get ready on her own cause her sister was so selfish.

Another funny one was the bride hated heights and rides and stuff, so it was organized at a theme park.

A football obsessed groom organised a football themed wedding and got married at idk, the stadium Liverpool plays at or something. Like, I love Geelong but a Geelong themed wedding, i dont think so. That was a srsly tacky one.

Didn't know this. I thought you could get married on a whim in Vegas by some dude in an Elvis jumpsuit. Maybe the laws vary by state.

Groom gets 15k (in pounds was a British show) to organize the whole wedding in... 30 days?? Bride has absolutely zero input and no contact is to be made with the groom.
28k Australian.

I wonder what the average cost is now.

A lot of people these days understandably just don't even bother.

Las Vegas weddings

Las Vegas weddings refers to wedding ceremonies held in Las Vegas, Nevada, which came to be known as the "Marriage Capital of the World" because of the ease of acquiring a marriage license and the minimal costs involved. The city continues to be known as a popular wedding destination for the same reasons, but also as a result of the various types of weddings available.

Marriage license

Nevada marriage licenses are considered notoriously easy to get; there is no blood test or required waiting period. Las Vegas has streamlined the process further. Once a short form is completed and submitted to the marriage license bureau along with $77.00 cash or money order and a government issued photo identification, a marriage license may be obtained within minutes until midnight every night.[1] The ease of getting married was historically a deliberate choice of Nevada law makers to promote tourism.[2]
Within one year of receipt of the marriage license a wedding ceremony must be performed in order to have a legal union, and marriages are legal and binding throughout the United States under the Full Faith and Credit Clause.
