How much did you put in
overall it was probably more than half a cup. the sauce itself, heavy sprinkles in the layering, plus some in the pasta water(!). Niece B thought we had too much pasta so she only put in 300g.

I cannot get the bechamel sauce to thicken like big time. I do not know what I am meant to do. I follow the recipe exactly
The bechamel ended up being too thick for me when I was spreading it on the top and I had to add more milk.

What is your recipe?
We do 50g butter melted, and gradually add in 1/2 cup sifted plain flour until you get a roux (I think that's what it's called.) Then gradually stir in 1 litre of full cream long life milk that has been heated. (I think heating the milk is the key. We pour it in a cup and heat in the microwave). Add salt and pepper. Keep whisking and after awhile add grated cheese. Keep whisking and eventually it thickens 🙂.

3-4 eggs in a bowl beaten which are added to the mixture at the end off the heat

Ahh ok, my mum did say some Greeks use eggs.
