I find that surprising! Even living in the city.

The only time I've seen a snake was while on a Year 8 camp when bush walking near Lake Eildon. Never saw a snake in Texas even when on camp and a Geology trip. Plenty of non- poisonous snakes in Illinois and Wisconsin.

My brother often sees rattlesnakes when taking his dogs out for a walk outside his desert home north of Phoenix. He usually walks the dogs before 7am, before the snakes come out. One dog was bitten so he drove him right to the vet and he was OK.

That's stupid. We had a blue tongue living at our place for years, he was fine

I had a blue tongue living under my front stoop in Briar Hill. One of my neighbours here has one living in her back courtyard.

Same deal but with red backs here.

They are beyond shy. I've only ever seen one red back in my life- under the back steps going into the villa I used to live in.



I had to kill the thing. No way I was stepping around that in bare feet, on a daily basis.

I'm amazed at that a lot more, they are very common.

Aside from wood logs they love living in anything metal for some reason, always find them in sheds.

Rare to find them inside the house though, thank God.

LOL At least one of the Teals claimed victory too soon - Sat evening. She lost today. Another one did the same and might lose. She's the one whose husband was caught nicking an opponent's campaign sign. Sprung bad!

Erin Patterson was "very reluctant" about letting her lunch guests look into her pantry. Ian says he did not go look in the pantry out of fear of embarrassing his host.

When the group arrived at the home, Mr Wilkinson said, his wife was keen to check out Ms Patterson's pantry because she was organising a similar space at their home

The four guests invited to Erin Patterson's deadly lunch were her relatives by law, through her estranged husband Simon Patterson. (ABC News)

"Heather was calling out to me, 'come and look at the pantry'," Mr Wilkinson said.

"I'd noticed Erin was very reluctant about the visit to the pantry and had not yet started following [Heather and Gail] so I thought maybe the pantry's a mess, an embarrassment, and I won't add to the embarrassment by joining the party,"

he said.
After some small talk, Mr Wilkinson said food was being prepared in the kitchen by Ms Patterson.

"Both Heather and Gail were offering to help plate up the food. The offer was rejected and Erin plated," he said.
