Got my 8th Covid vaccine today. Also got four prescriptions( two of them 60 day tablets) for free since I've reached my Safety Net limit. Thank you Gough Whitlam and Bob Hawke and other, probably Labor, politicians.

What is Safety Net Limit?

For 2025, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) safety net thresholds are $1,694.00 for general patients and $277.20 for concession card holders. Once these amounts are reached for eligible PBS medicines within a calendar year, patients receive either a concessional co-payment or free prescriptions for the rest of the year, depending on their card type.

I reached my $277.20 threshold two weeks ago. I didn't know until I looked it up, that that it was separate from the medical costs Safety Net which is about $854 for pensioners. I haven't seen my private specialists as much this year and I'm getting bulk billed when I see my GP now, so I haven't had as many out of pocket costs.
