EDIT - sorry, should have specified by 'tested poorly' I meant in regards to sprints, seems he's fairly slow off the mark

He apparently tested well for endurance and vertical leap

Gee, Salem's results have made me reconsider. For some reason I though he was not 'great' athletically.

Nah, he's a star this kid. Shame about the whole Essendon supporter thing. I hope when we interviewed him we asked him about his stance on the supplements scandal and his response didn't involve any hashtags

Essendon fans are bandwagoners, we've beaten the Carlton out of Deledio and Collingwood out Vlastuin and Ellis clubs with fan's made of far sterner stuff.

The Draft's Greatest Misconceptions

James Aish has no inside game

Recent talk about Aish slipping out of the top 5 has seen people look for reasons, and the most common one is that he is a skinny outside midfielder with no inside ability at all. That is simply not true. In the U18 Championships, SA had some of the best performed inside midfielders (Combe, Hewett, Dunstan) so of course Aish was going to stay otuside. And in the SANFL, he has spent the season in the seniors with some very good midfielders as teammates. But with limited opportunities, he has shown glimpses in the centre square. While he has shown a knack of winning his own ball around throw ins and ball ups around the ground - he knows just where to position himself, and will take advantage of having even a small amount of space to run into. His inside game is no worse than Lachie Whitfield or Josh Kelly.

Chris is usually a little off in his draft predictions. He favours interstate players and over rates outside mids. I think he's probably a better eye for talent than nightmare but doesn't take the footy landscape into account anywhere near as well, if at all. Nightmare seems to canvass more recruiters and is far closer when it comes to draft position.

Loves the SA boys, quality draft watcher though.

I would love him to be spot on with our #12 pick this year (Sharenberg)

Bontempelli and Hartung are who I know of that are Richmond supporters I believe.

Surprised on Bontempelli... isn't Nick Dal Santo his cousin? Woulda thought he'd follow St. Kilda... or Norf now.. hehe

1. Scharenberg (KM currently has him at 12 and seems to have dropped off the bandwagon, still reckon he would be a steal here)
2. Lennon
3. Salem
4. Acres
5. Dunstan

Brisbane is pretty much the key to who we get by the sounds of it.

WB - Aish
GC - KK
Coll - Bontempelli
Lions - ??? Scahrenberg, Lennon, Salem, McCarthy
North - McDonald
Melbourne - Salem then Freeman
Collingwood - Lennon or Scharenberg
WC - Sheed
Richmond - In order depending on who is available Scahrenberg, Salem, Acres, Freeman. I think we will probably get Acres now.

This is a draft countdown from the Herald Sun (live chat Monday 1.00p.m for those that can/care) :)

1. Tom Boyd - GWS
2. Josh Kelly - GWS
(pricks)
3. Jack Billings -STK
(unless they stuff it up)
4. James Aish - WB
(ditto)
5. Kade K - GC
(This will be his name on the team sheet)
6. Marcus B - Coll
(ditto)
7. Matt Sch - Bris
(Similar to Heisenberg)
8. Luke Mac - NM
(L-Mac is way too obvious. They won't call him that, will they..?)
9. Nathan Freeman - Melb
(it's a bit Alanis, being a Free Man stuck at Melbourne).
10. Ben Lennon - Coll
(Collingwood are absolute bastards. Really hope Jesse White stinks it up like Q stick)
11. Dom Sheed - WC
(Nearly Sheedy, and might be royalty)

12. Christian Salem - Rich
(Combines strength with silk, like Dan Hannebery, in a perfect mix for the Tiges. Salem's left foot is precise, he gets goals, and boasts impressive contested footy numbers).

13. Cameron McCarthy - Carl
(What, Pat McCarthy wasn't enough?)
14. Darcy Gardiner - GWS
(If he's not from Sydney, we should try and get him for 2015)
15. Matt Crouch - Syd
(Brother of Brad. New housemate of Bud. Scandal. Richmond player 2015)
16. Zak Jones - Gee
(Stephen Wells better get this right. He's done nothing that guy)
17. Lewis Taylor - Fre
(He won't be Fre, under Ross' s game plan. Poor bastard)
18. Billy Hartung - STK
(Richmond)
19. Blake Acres - STK
(ditto)
20. Luke Dunstan - GC
(I better go to bed)

Collingwood will destroy this draft, the top end talent is still similar to other drafts no matter what, if they land Bontempelli and Lennon they get an A+, a V2 of Pendles and a classy half forward, hope someone lands Lennon desperately before he gets to Collingwood's Pick 10.

Everyone thought Tambling would be a gun also. Not all kids make it and Collingwood is bound to have one soon.
