Anyone seen inside Footy's mock yet?

In the other thread it says it has Salem at 6 McCarthy at 7 and Lennon going to us at 12.

I'm thinking my preference for this pick is Salem, Acres, Lennon, Freeman assuming Scharenberg doesn't slide.

I feel like Acres is more complete than Lennon, Freeman and can offer more through the midfield as well as around the ground.

I worry about Lennon attitude. Like some one mentioned it may have been you UTG but he came across as really immature in his little TV interview and it seems to refect in his on field demenour too.

Freeman just has too much hye IMO. people see the burst of pace and think "Dangerfield" but he is lacking in so many other areas to really come close. I think he'll be more like a Marley Williams at AFL level.

know nothing about it but regarding interviews the kids can only mature with experience, honestly I wouldn't read too much into it unless he comes across as a total bonehead

Yeah good point but when talking to complete stragers with a camera and telling them your biggest problem is "women" and that you "can't live with them, can't live without them" it throws up a bit of a red flag to me.

We saw in the Vlastuin article what type of attitude you need to excel in our sytstem and I would definitely question wheather he is mature enough when compared to other options.

Scharenberg (wish) Acres , Freeman for me at this moment

I just didnt like the way Lennon seems to celebrate just about every goal towards the crowd with fist in the air - all about me type of look

But more interested in our next 2 selections tbh #50 & #68 - Hoping for a really quick small foward with both feet and a Developing Ruckman
Cameron & Wison would be a good result

I played with his older brother Johnny at Ferntree Gully. He is a great kid and comes from a great family

Couple of guys I know played with him at Ranges for years.... supposed to be a freak but so small....
Would take him with our pick 50 if still there. Project player, bulk up and get him running riot on the outside and picking up crumbs in the forward line.

Yep. I'm not trying to slot the bloke unduly, but it just came across that way. Confidence etc is a good thing, but it did look a little self-absorbed.

Lennon's interview would be in contrast to every other first round draftee we've selected in the last 7 years (excluding Dusty who is a freak).

If we get him, it might be a sign we see freakish talent there?

Otherwise he's not your standard Hardwick type so I'm more inclined to expect someone else's name to be called at our pick. Is discussion media driven or based on something solid (considering the club has been transparent every year except with Conca)?

Ben Cavarra who won the TAC cup league best and fairest, the Eastern Ranges best and fairest, captained them to the Preimership and won the Morrish Medal for being BOG in the Grand Final.

I'd love him. Could be a small forward and push in the midfield later on

I still want Salem. If he's not available then Scharenberg, Freeman, Acres or Crouch will all be able to come in and work on their games to develop. They sound like good characters who will be in the mold of an Ellis, Conca and Vlastuin. Which is what we need more of

Lennon sounds like a self-absorsed flashy flanker. Talented no doubt, but I'd rather see him go to Collingwood and watch him be decked on the outer wing by our raging bull Vlastuin

Yeah i got no idea really. The club obviously have a lot better idea on the kids than us.

Would love Scharenberg to slide as i just like his height and possibilites of playing in various roles.

But end of the day like ive said many times before i back the recruiting dept in. They havent let us down for a few years now

I saw someone post that the last left footer we took with our first pick was Fiona in 1999.

Not sure what foot Alex Gilmour preferred, but that sounds right.

Yeah, totally agree. Just saying the word is that his body would struggle at the moment with the bigger bodies in the AFL. No reason not to pick a gun kid though, so long as he packs on some muscle.
Just don't want him to be the next Robin Nahas -.-'

i'm happy with Bontempelli, who would be a tall Fyfe-type midfielder, or Salem who is like the Tivendale like player we have been missing for years (just with a harder edge) im not sure he will be that crash and bash type player like Hodge that people are talking about.

Either or for me. Acres and Crouch round out the next two id take.

I hope we don't just doing the same old same old drafting technique. Hopefully this year things change. We've made finals and we are beginning to match it with the top sides. As long as we keep developing our current list I believe we can afford the risk of taking a player like Acres opposed to someone like Salem. Acres is raw, he's tall, he'll take some time but I reckon the risk is worth the reward.

Salem has the skills to be a good player.. inside and outside midfielder, excellent kicking, good decision maker, can take a mark, can go forward to kick goals, loves a tackle.
Acres also has the skills to be a player. Wouldn't really make a difference which player we get. Acres would be right up there if it wasn't for his shoulder injury.
