Does anyone know of any good Fish and Chip shops around Richmond area? Me and my bf drove around trying to find one that looks at least half decent :P couldnt find any!
anyone know of one?

realy? i saw that one but it looked dirty :P haha im very picky!
but ill try that since i live around th corner :)
thanks

Give Squid Lips a go.

It's on Lennox St between Bridge and Victoria, but due to one way streets you need to come down from Elizabeth St. (...it runs parallel to Victoria)

Absolutely sensational chips, great burgers and the best battered sav around!

When I was in Melbourne I looked for some as well, and I found a a half decent one. I forget what road it was, but it was near Brunswick St and near that big community housing flats.

I have been to the worst one ever though. It's on the way out of Ballarat, near the arch on the way to Adelaide. It's never a good sign when they have a cat giving birth to kittens on top of the potatoes.

I took my cousin down to have a look around Cottesloe yesterday and we had F&C's for lunch. He told me that he had never seen a Pineapple Fritter before in Canberra (where he came from) although they do have Banana Fritters over there.

I love pineapple fritters - surely they have them over east?

Yeah the old PF is classic.

Problem with Cottesloe and Scabs is, there aren't many old school fish&chip shops where you can just get the old $2.00 of chips.

They all give you either a large or small bucket, which is never as good.

It's pretty old but the old Greek couple (aren't they all) keep it absolutely spotless, have often sat across the road (Bar9T4) and watched as the old guy scrubs it every night for a couple of hours after they close up, even goes out the front and gives the footpath a wash!

Give it a go, and no I am not related, own shares or whatever ;)

Cheers

Gonzo

Yeah, an Asian bloke runs the one just near Cheltenham train station now. Got a serve of chips there, and they were pretty good.

I used to live in Cheltenham...
thats where i had horrible fish and chips..
the fish and chip shop on chesterville road used to be owned by i think they were english not too sure. Then got taken over by Greeks I THINK and it was really dirty and they would smoke in there and it was yucky! Then An asian family took over so i tried it but it was sooo oily and like yuck too scared to go back. it may be better now tho! maybe they were new to it all hehe :)
dont matter now anyways coz i dont live there :D

The best in Melbourne is a joint in Kew called "Fishy Business." They have another shop on Glenferrie Road, but it's not as good. The one in Kew is great!

The place I got the F&C's in Cott was near the Cottesloe Hotel but more opposite the car park. It cost $5.20 for a piece of fish, chips and a PF which was good value - the bastards ripped us off with the $2.50 ice coffee 600mls drink.

i'll put a vote in for the Glenferrie Road shop. Went there on the weekend, got home and was surprised to find an extra fillet of fish :)

That's awesome, a tiny lil half size potato cake usually usually makes me jump for joy, but an extra fillet of fish would be like my thrill for the year.
