Fisher at CHF - Thoughts?

As you all know, we have a massive hole at CHF.

What do you think about playing Fisher there?

He certainly has the hands. He might not be big enough to impose himself in a contest ala Jon Brown (crash and bash type CHF) but I think he could play a good lead-up role, similar to a Nick Riewoldt type game.

IIRC, he played s similar role last year as the linkman between the backline and the foward line and did a good job.

It might even bring him into the game a bit.

He has been virtually playing there all year? He is not big enough nor quick enough to play there. His kicking lacks penatration as well so he needs to play closer to goal.

CHF forward is not neccessarily an area of a football ground or a 6 foot 6 forward who stands on the 50m line but moreso a role played within a team. CHF is a link between the backline/midfield and midfield/forward line whether it is leading to the middle of the ground, the HB line, the wing or HFF. Not much. He's not a CHF and never will be. Until the trading/recruiting season begins we won't be able to do much more than put Hartlett there and hope for the best.

Agree.. play him CHF.... FOR ANOTHER TEAM.... lets see if we can suck Fremantle into trading someone like Warnock or Murphy or Ibbotson or someone like that for him. Wont get much better.

His kicking is bad enough when he is close to goals, and as Kooley said, lacks penetration. Play him in the FP where he has served us so well in the past, and hope Hartlett, Cloke and Hampson can fill the void until the end of the season.

Yep, best suited to a forward pocket where he can use those long arms to take a few contested marks closer to goal.

100% correct. But, given that all we can really do for now is plug the hole at CHF as best we can, i think the point the OP is making is that Fisher is probably as good an option as we've got.

It's a fair enough thought, and, as other posters have noted, Fish has pretty much been doing a CHF-type job pretty often this year already.

Hartlett played really well against adelaide before he injured himself, he will hold down CHF as long as he remains fit, big IF there though
