Long overdue in my mind. If he wasnt injured would of had a big role to play in this season for the blues. Carlton are missing someone to play in the square and with fishers mitts they could of found the hole in the forward line for the rest of the season.
Will he be playing afl next year?

Great to see Fish back in the line up, and will present us with another leading forward target......will be good to see, as he has been in good touch with the Bullants!

Very sad to see Ellard dropped after one game....I thought he did a great job on Priddis last week and probably deserved another go at it to be honest.

I think he would have been a good choice to go with Swann!

gifting him games to 100, was ordinary in the game on the weekend, but then again must be next in line if we want another marking player. Might be liking this move if we get him to 100 and he has talented kids.

Good luck to Fisher.

100 games would be a fitting reward for a player who has had more than his fair share of injuries.

A player with great hands who can one grab marks might come in handy if it rains.

Fisher has more footy smarts than Setanta who doesn't know a thing about wet weather football.

Struggled against Melbourne this year.

You come off sounding like a twat here GB. Has worked his ring off all pre-season, and then even harder to get back from his knee. Formline in the VFL warrants a hit out in the absence of any better options up forward.

:thumbsu: This.
Good luck to the Fish. Would be wonderful if he could become the 3rd marking forward we need into the future.

Good on Fish for forcing his way back into the team... I hope he has a good one and absolutely kills them.

Privately though, I suspect that the MC are giving a few of the fringe players some game time before the end of the year to evaluate where they stand in the scheme of things...

We saw a couple of the kids early on, and now it is time for the fringe veterans to come out so that the MC and the club can decide on whether they will be kept on at the end of the year.

Just quietly... I think you're right ;)

hapy for fisher but a little concerned if the rain hits hard on saturday. fisher has great hands would be advantageous in that goal square, but if the ball hits ground, he is slow, and will look even slower in the wet and he doesnt give that forward pressure to keep the ball in. I havent seen him in teh 2s much so maybe he has worked on that side of his game.

Good on him for getting a call up, but I just don't see the point. Bringing him in on one of the biggest games of the year (for us). He's going to be feeling a lot of pressure to perform and that's not going to be easy against the opposition we have this week. Ratts is giving him the chance but it's going to awfully hard for him to take advantage of it especially given the conditions that have been forecast for Sat. Rain will almost eliminate his strength in marking. Doesn't have too many tricks after that, his speed, kicking, decision making and turning circle are not up to it IMO.

BTW would love to see him bag 6 and help us get over the line, I have nothing against the guy, just giving my honest opinion of his abilities.

Yeah but those running away from him will be slower as well :D

Id like the Blues to get Fish to 100 games, but find this game a bit of an odd choice. They must see a defensive weakness there or something.

They all work their ring off, that's part of the job and why they all make it to the drafting stage. If he does what we ask of him he'll contribute well, if he has a good day we know that he's quite serviceable. He might have a defencive lead up role taking a tall defender out of the space and I recon he'll be able to do that. I don't recon he's quite up to it but it'd be good to see him get his 100. If he kicks well then he'll be worth his spot. Hope they underestimate him and gets under the radar. Lets see how this goes. Collingwood will be tall down back and a tall forward of ours might have to go up forward as they will be tall there too. They aren't a fast side so I can kind of see where the MC are coming from.

Hey Starchamber, when you use other peoples quotes rather than creating your own material, your posts are actually comprehensible...Whilst punctuation is still an issue, familiarity with the material gets us past that issue and it is refreshing to see some grammatical constructs that appear to contribute to the sentences....

Glad Fisher is in. What Fisher brings is a contested marking option up forward, something we badly need and one thing he does do better than near all others in the side. That might just allow us to move Waite up the ground a little more often during the game. Fisher can play out of the goal square with Henderson and Waite across half forward. Gives Waite a greater licence to run further up the ground from there, even when playing forward. That I believe is the benefit of Fisher being in the team. He has his limitations, slow on the chase being one of them but that's why you have teammates. All players have strengths and weaknesses. You look at what they bring compared to what they can't do. We too often look at what they can't rather than what they can do.

Might not have been worth bringing him in during Fev's days here, as most attacks went through him, but now he's gone we need blokes that can take a mark up forward....badly.

All for Fish getting call up, if form in two's warrants it (which it has), but not too sure if he is the best option as the number one option up forward.

I know that Vinny is number one option but he plays up ground a lot leaving Fish as main target

Good to see him back after doing all the right things to get himself over the injury.

I would guess with a name like his, he would be a wet weather specialist.;)

Id like the Blues to get Fish to 100 games ...

Yep ... and then set about hooking him up with someone like this
