Would you prefer Wiggins or Fisher in our side?

Wiggins is one of our bottom players and my opinion is that we must try Fisher and see if he can do better. What's yours?

Wiggins has been at our club for a long time and has showed only a little. He's very one dimensional meaning he doesn't have many ways to get the ball in his game. If he's not marking it he's not going to get it. He's not very big or very quick or all that clever and he's easily shut down.
His kicking is shocking, his agility is shocking, he's got little pace and his forward line pressure is only ok. Some say he's a tough player, but i don't see him charging in taking tackles like Judd does and throwing his body around. I think his attack on the ball is below what we all like to think it is. He performs ok against poor sides like Richmond but he never performs against good sides which rings alarm bells. You only play good sides in finals. He ain't that young no more, should be at his peak, probably is...

Fisher was highly rated by us previous to last year. He's taller than Wiggins, he can take marks closer to goal than Wiggins. His kicking has been shocking and he doesn't attack the footy that well. He's better at ground level which was shown late last year when he move up the ground. He's got good agility. His pace is ok. His kicking may have improved this year. He's not blessed with a good body for the game. Fisher's forward line pressure is pretty ordinary.

I would say that he's worse at ground level, has poor agility and is slow....slower than wiggins.

Fisher at his best easy but I have not seen much of that lately. When he played he seemed only interested in taking mark of the year or slotting goal of the year instead of doing the team thing. I think Wiggo is a team player who's skills let him down.
At the minute Wiggo but I so want Fish to be that missing link.

Bit Wiggins cannot do either at the moment. At least Fish can take a strong grab. His groundwork isn't that bad. Give him a go.

Both players can take a strong grab, both deadly inaccurate on a set shot. Can only really see Fisher coming in for the Chief so I suspect that these two will be in and out for the remainder of the year taking each other's spot, but at his best Fisher for me.

Yep, and whoever of the two is currently not in the side will most likely win these polls.

As for the question, Fisher is obviously the better option without doubt ;)

Yep, agree.

All I want to know is whether or not Fisher has seemed to correct his kicking technique yet.

If his kicking was around 2007 level again and he's hands were back to his best, then I'd say Fish easily.

Wiggo was great at the start of the year, and I like him, but he's been shocking the last few weeks and I'm beginning to think all but the really crappier sides know how to shut him down.

Wiggins has prove he will contribute against weak teams but not good ones. This means he will let us down in finals and crucial games. Cut.

Fisher give him a chance, if he can't do better. Cut.

We still hve kids coming along and pushing hard, they will find their place in our side eventually.

Fisher has better endurance and overall agilty,a better reader of the play and probably our best mark. Issue being if he doesn't take the mark he falls down a good % of the time rendering him useless to defend and his kicking for goal is atrocious for a forward.

Wiggo, Started season really well. Good mark not as slow as has been mentioned earlier. He is fearless when going for the ball. In his early games this year he presented well and took lots of marks on the lead and some nice contested marks. .
Took 45 marks in the first 5 rounds which is an excellent return, however only managed 4 marks in the last 2 rounds . Defensive pressure is pretty average. Not overly agile. kicking for goal is atrocious for a forward. Tries his heart out. If he gives 3 bad performances in a row, his position will seriously come under scrutiny.

For Mine Fisher offers more around the ground and is harder to tag as he has great endurance. If only he didn't fall so much.

I'm sorry, but if you cant kick goals from 10m's out you've got serious issues. (I'm looking at you Mr Wiggins)

Yeah but Chief may kick the ones from 45m where Fish struggles to make the distance. ;)

Based on current form, Wiggins needs to have a day out against Collingwood. And remember, one of Fisher's 2 goals in the Bullants last week was umpire assisted, so he's hardly setting the world on fire at the lower grades.

I think the long term playing future will be neither. If we find another defender in Austin then our forward line, with resting rucks Hampson/Kreuzer/Warnock, may look like

Betts Waite Walker
Garlett Fevola Yarran

Wiggler tries hard and is well liked but unfortunately he's play 100 games and has had about 3 really good ones. If (when?) Fisher gets his kicking for goal right he is a genuine threat up forward. Kicked about 40 goals a couple of years ago. We cry out for another avenue to goal other than Fev yet Wiggins keeps getting a game when he's kicked 1 for the year.

Time's nearly up Wiggins.

Wiggins by a mile. We have no CHF prospect. Therefore we need a smaller lead up option which wiggins has done a fair job of this year (i would say as many good as bad games). Yes his kicking is bad, but fishers would have been equally bad a couple of years ago when he was at his best.

Wiggins is required in the lead up role that fisher showed in the past he cant do. Fisher's agility is shocking, in todays game he is a liability due to his lack of speed also. Robinson yarran and betts are as good at providing an option up forward.

The real thing here (as it always has been) is that we have no CHF. Wiggins is the next bets thing, and fisher is an inconsistent third tall who has given little reason for a call up (if hes coming in to score goals) in the VFL this year.

of course i'd love for fish to come in and prove me wrong, but watching someone like sam fisher beat him in the air and collect 30+ the other way would be more likely IMO

Yeah fair point, I hope the chief has a big 1 tomorrow, can't questioned his committment.

Really would be good to have walker in the team.
