Thought you might all be interested in how some of the boys went in their fitness tests before break up for christmas.

The fittest at the club in order are:

Callum Chambers
Rowan Jones
Michael Braun
Josh Wooden

These guys did so well in their fitness tests you would put them in the top 1% of the AFL.

In the sprints, you may be surprised but the fastest was Michael Gardiner. Others in the top for this test were Andrew Williams, Callum Chambers and Michael Braun.

A few surprises there????

Just thought you would like some new info.

Cheers for that MDB
Michael Gardiner the fastest, thats surprising.
Also, I see chambers is good at the fitness, running part of it, he needs to do more work on his skills so he can take the next step and cement his spot in the team.

Chambers has been the best in the fitness tests for a couple of years now....

Im hoping he can concentrate on the football side and become a member of the starting 18 (we need a few of those)

Good news about Brauny. Looks like his injury is finally not giving him much hassle and could be set for a big year next year. Over all, I'm not surprised about who the fittest were but I must say that seeing Brauny there was a bit of a surprise.

Same with Gardiner being the fastest sprinter. BTW, what distance would the sprint be?

Very surprising to see Gardy as the quickest...but thats good, for his size and to be that quick, well that can only be good. Surprising to also see Brauny up there but once again that is good and bodes well for next season.

Weird that Cuz wasnt up there, last year i thought he was head and shoulders above the rest with fitness, he just kept on running all day.

Good on Josh Wooden. I am a bit of a fan. I think he has worked hard. Changed his body shape. Just has to keep working at his disposal to step up.

Callum Chambers has to keep on beefing up. He has quite good disposal and can get the footy. Just pushed off the ball to easily. But could be a regular on the wing. (His only position really)

GO EAGLES!

Gardiner the fastest in the sprints? I find that pretty hard to believe, he's way too big to be competing with your midfielders in the sprints.

Gardy's been the fastest at the club for a while now. Those long legs allow him to cover the ground pretty quickly.

Andrew Williams and Ben Cousins (I think) are second to Gardiner in terms of speed.

After McIntosh retires, Gardiner will probably be the strongest as well as the fastest at the club. Now that's pretty impressive.

Great young player.

Strongest?? You would think Jako could bench more?

Maybe in his 'hey day'!

Where is this all coming from - WCE website? Very interesting stuff - definitely surprised at Gardiner!

In his "hey day" LOL...he is 27/28, i think we all forget that too often. He's a young man, you would think he would be able to bench just as much as he did when he was 22. Its not like he is 35...

He's 29 in March.
Don't get me wrong Jod - I have always been a Jako fan, but imo and without seeing the list of who came where, I would imagine there would be quite a few ahead of him.

Your probably right, he just seems like such a big guy and Gardy is so tall but when i think about Gardiner is no Cox, he is certainly more muscle than bone.

It's surprising, but Jako has never really been a star in the weights room. Even in his prime he was never up there with Milli, Fewster, Gherig or even Guy McKenna (who was very strong).

But really it just proves that the bench press and squats ect are not an accurate measure of a persons strength.

In a one-on-one contest Milli would be the strongest, but Jakovich would have to be second. Even this year he threw Carey around like a rag doll.

Yeah thats why i always assumed that Jako was the strongest as barring Milli, he beats most ppl in one-on-one contests...your right though buzz, maybe how much you can bench doesnt really mean much on the field.
