What was your personal highlight for the game????

For me-


It was Croady and his broken foot hip and shoulder!!!!!

It epistomised the hawks today. Broken foot, and still smashed the catter. The fact that it was that dirty cat who hammered Johnson last week made it all the better.

Stewie Dew's third quarter. Cool head and experience shone through. Exactly why Clarko got him.

Franklin pushing Scarlett to the side like a rag doll, laughed at that one.

Rioli reading the play, watched the ball come in high, just left it for for Franklin, anticipated the crumb and headed for goal. You know the rest.



Plenty more, everyone did their part.

surely the williams handball whilst been tackled to dew handball whilst being tackled to williams handball whilst being tackled to dew handball whilst being tackled to williams pick up gather dribble through goal in front of the hawks faithful. Was rare. Put us 4 goals up and the crowd loved it.
I have watched this goal on replay over and over. 2 against 3, Geelong tried everything to clear it. ended up 3 of them having to tackle the 44 gallon drum with legs, stewie dew and he was able to free up willo with a desperate handball. Was just special, showed we wanted it more really and had the polish to finish it off.

I loved it when Croady had hurt his foot and knew that the last thing he was going to be able to do was make a tackle and he did, that took guts...and Brownys goal from outside fifty was great!!

For me it was Rioli's running in and booting the sheer crap out of the ball into the top tier and watching the ball fall and nearly decapitate the Channel 7 cameraman on the 2nd level.

It was the whole game. It was the boys lined up arm in arm again. It was Hodge inviting Rooke to test his ribs, it was the fact we didnt' resort to the biff, it was that we never hung our heads. It was Bateman's brilliance early on to kick a running goal. it was Croad running on a broken foot to give Selwood one more hit before leaving the game. It was Rioli's chasing and tackling, especially that 3 on 1 on the wing. It was Hodge jumping in front of leading forwards all the while knowing he would get belted. It was Young's booming goal. It was Franklin passing to Williams on the goal line and the subsequent smallest 50m penalty ever in the history of the game. It was Hodgey telling Guerra (I think) to shut up after the umps gave Geelong yet another free kick. It was Buddy kicking a set shot goal from where he usually misses and later playing on from a similar spot and slotting it. It was Stuart Dew marking under presssure, laying magnificent tackles and booting a couple of telling goals. It was Brad Sewell winning the vital clearances and it was Sam Mitchell giving the cry baby Ablett something to think about. It was following up a bad kick by putting pressure on.

It was so much more than that. It was desperation and courage. It was a never say die attiitude and the belief that their best was more than good enough. It was true Hawthorn spirit. These boys would I have no doubt, die for one another in a war.

They did it the hard way.

For me a single moment amongst a packed highlight reel is when Mooney gave Hodge a belt in the ribs just on the line and Hodgie turned to Mooney and laughed in Mooneys face....and a few seconds later Hodge leaps in front of Mooney and spoils the ball...again !

That said it all to me.."you can't f**kin' hurt me, but I will kill you"
