Just a little numbers issue-all our flags, bar 1952, have been won in the odd year-1925, 1931, 1937, 1951, 1963, 2007, 2009. 1952 was our double up year. We are therefore going to have defy the odds in every way to win 2010, unless we repeat history and go 2 in a row.
Anyway, right now , I'll be happy with a win next week.

We're yet to win a grand final televised by Channel 7 either. They showed the 1989, 1992, 1994, 1995 and 2008 grand finals. Both 2007 and 2009 were shown on Channel 10.

As Laurence of Arabia is reported to have said and as our Jimmy stated (in answer to a crazy question based on what had happened in some other game) in 2007 "Nothing is written". Therefore anything is possible, you just make it happen.

Exactly. I remember reading a great quote about Bradman before a test in England in 1934. Australia were trailing by a fair bit, and he said to a journalist he needed to make 200 - at least. The journalist said "but you made 334 last time you were here, the law of averages says you won't get anywhere near that."

Bradman smiled, then said ........."I don't believe in the law of averages."

He made 304.

The point is the same, past statistics are irrelevant. If they mattered we wouldn't have broken our 44-year drought. But we did, precisely because this playing group is so far superior to any other we've had (in my lifetime anyway). If they are good enough they can win the flag. That's all that matters.
