Personally, I don't get the "hate" thing for players, especially your own club. Loyalty means sticking behind club and players through thick and thin. This is not just blind idolatry - I simply don't ever believe the Bloods would dog a game, not try, just give up. On that basis, I'll back them 100% - knowing that, if they lose, it was due to lack of skills, bad luck, decisions etc. Lack of skills, poor kicking, stupid decisons under pressure etc are annoying - but going the personal "hate" stuff (to me) is a sort of mindless, self-defeating approach.
On the other hand, I can't stand umpires - little showpony heroes trying to grab the limelight from the players. This is not irrational. The Swans are one of the most disciplined defensive, tackling teams in the last 10 years - but have never been rewarded for this facet of the game. We have been systematically robbed of momentum, points in so many games over the years. The Freo game this year was as close to fraud as you will ever see. If I was CEO of the Swans, I would set up such a systematic, continuous, constant public outcry about certain umpires (e.g. Sydney do not want XXX umpires here ever again), that umpires would be influenced to treat us fairly lest they get exposed week in, week out. It's all about the Swans getting a fair go.
