They are the board in control so they are responsible for all of the above except maybe the first 2.

Allowing Lyon to recruit old and recycled players will see Stkilda once again become the speculation for relocation again over the next 5 years. An extra miilion dollars spending a year because of Footy First will only add to our pain over the next 5 years.

They are the ones who are cleaning up the mess left by Butters mismanagement.

btw Schneider, Dempster and Ray aren't old, the others were all recruits to fill gaps in the list left by your hero. Lyon has also heavily invested in the Rookie system and also drafted bottom age players through the last few drafts.

Brooks, Penny, Guerra, Fiora, Watts all epic failures, especially considering what they cost. Brooks in particular was probably the worst trade of all time.

Lyon's trading is already better.

Could be worse nexus, just look at the Bulldogs situation or the dees,Tigers,Roos and even the Pies who have had off field problems in recent times.

We have a great draw next year maybe not commercially but we will manage. The next few years are going to be shaky for alot of clubs with the finacial crisis and the introduction of 2 new clubs.

Things will return to normal in a few years and after expansion maybe the AFL will look at relocating 2 Melbourne clubs and the saints will gradually gather more supporters and members in Victoria with less clubs and Melbourne's population growth.

Money had to be spent on the footy department. We were getting left for dead by other clubs.

This is one of the main reasons Nathan Burke joined. He was of the strong view that there had been a major under-spend during his playing days, and the current board is trying to bring us into the 21st century.

Suppose NH was happy taking John Beveridge around in a wheelchair, so he could be the lone recruiter until he was 90.

And let's be honest - we loved our players getting soft tissue injuries all the time. It was critical that we didn't bring any injury management expertise into the club!!!

Ho hum same old crap!

Old players = only Steven King. who was able to play very well and will bridge the gap until our younger rucks are ready. ( Or do you think throwing young guys in the deep and and giving them two touches per game will rapidly improve them).

Recycled = Dempster, effectively replaced Attard, Gardner - came free with King and is now gone, Schnieder = one of our best goal scorers 2008.
Ray- still very young and already better than Fiora with some hope of improvement. Many rate him highly.

Other recycled players drafted by the previous managment de-listed under the current management= Fiora , Birss

Now please explain the link between recycled players and relocation?????

There is nothing wrong with recycling players as long as they can help the side.

I for one was absolutely rapt to see Max Hudgeton given a modified training regime which allowed him to avoid the soft tissue injuries he had seen in the past, and I hope that similar attention to the younger players can help them avoid Chronic and ongoing injuries.

It is my personal opinion that some of the other teams who are ditching anyone in favour of a young player, will eventually realise that not every young player turns into a star. The bottom teams only get to pick one player before our first pick.

I agree, to a point, with NH. However my feelings on Ff have been well doncumented by me.

My gripes are that they never actually stood for anything. When challenged they referred to RB and his merry men. It is a crucial time (as alsways) to maintain profitability, and we are already seeing changes to try and ensure this. I am still out on FF and think they came in on the back of an injury problem we will not see fixed.

But correct me if I am wrong, didn't NH state the RB was the cause of all evil and demand his head?

Boards change, the members vote for them. There is always someone who is left disgruntled. Usually this far down the track even most of the obsessives have cooled down.

Nexus I suggest that if you wrote a post that said,

" I am worried that we won't see a premiership with this board , and I am concerned that we have run a financial loss this year " you would not get anywhere near as much animosity from the other posters. But then again , maybe you like it .
