Yeah I know it's FootyGoss, but was still surprised to see Lynch's name on the expendable list. If he is traded or delisted after not even getting an opportunity this year, I'll hound Woosha with hate mail.

common people he didnt play a game and really didnt deserve one till the last 5-6 weeks - and even then he wasnt oustanding consistantly in a dominent side.

I say trade him IF is value is still high.

PS i would have thought Hunter and Cox were bigger suprises then Lynch, who as we have said didnt play a game all year.

Hunter isn't listed in the article. Cox isn't that much of a surprise.

I think Lynch can be put in to the Embley category. A helluva lot of talent, but still young, and doesn't realise what he could have in front of him if he put his mind to it. Definitely not trade bait in my opinion.

Lynch

Lynch?? - Get rid of him. Trade him to Geelong for Bartel and we keep David Haynes. Lynch is an unreliable kick for goal, slow as a wet weekend, has the turning circle of the Queen Mary, and drops his head when he marks when there is pressure from behind. I would much rather keep Haynsie who is more versatile (can play FF, HF or HB), is twice as fast and a much better kick for goal and mark.
We should not trade Cox as we need his backup for Gardiner and he could also be developed as a forward option.
I think we should trust in the ability of our coaching staff to develop the young players on our list and just use our draft picks wisely.

If all that were true I'd want to keep him too - Plenty of evidence this season that it isn't though.

Vicki, thing is... just because Haynes played at FF doesn't mean he can play that position. He was given a chance this year, and he didn't kick enough goals.

I think maybe your East Perth bias is shining through. Lynch is a good talent. Jakovich is still slow, has the turning circle of the titanic, and isn't that reliable for goal... but he is still a good player.

What would be the point of trading Lynch? His value is low, and we have spent 2 or 3 years developing him, without giving him a real chance. He has to be kept, and given the oppurtunity to show what he can do.

I'll be very dissapointed if Haynes lines up at FF in Round 1 2004.

:D

Go the Falcons!!!

Trade Cox and Haynes. Lynch is the next Jakovich, trade for Troy Longmuir & Steven Koops, draft Brent LeCras and Kepler Bradley and the Eagles are shoe-ins for the next flag.

Who needs Cox when we could have Ron Skender!!!

Putting my West Perth bias aside for a moment, Lynch should be given another crack on our list. He showed in the Adelaide game (kicked 5 goals) that he has the talent to play AFL and just needs to take the bait when the line is dangling in front of his mouth.

Cox

Hey Guys, My "alleged East Perth Bias :D ) has nothing to do with the fact that I think Lynch is a hack. I still have nightmares of that game last year when he kicked about five shots out on the full! I just don't think we need him when we have McDougall and Gaspar and Staker and Johnson in the wings. - any of which I would have in the team ahead of Lurch. My bias does show thru with Coxy though :D but David Haynes is not an East Perth player, although rumour had it that he was very unhappy to be sent to Sooby two years ago. But then who wouldn't be??:)

Yep, there were a few games last year where Lynch did go a bit over the top with his kicking, but that's something he can work on to improve. The guy is only 20 (turns 21 early next year), and has only played roughly 12-13 games of AFL. He'll gradually mature as a footballer and thus, his skills and his decision making will improve (hopefully). With his size and marking ability, I think he'd provide a good contest for us at FF or CHF. We need to have faith in the KPP we have.
