This Wednesday September 25 at the Gasometer in Collingwood is the annual For The Jumper gig. A legendary coming together of Melbourne musos and footy lovers.
18 bands representing the 18 teams all comprised of supporters of their particular side perform their club theme song and another song with lyrical or musical relevance to their side. It always a brilliant night full of top musicians and enthusiastic punters.
I've represented Brisbane Lions with Chris Pickering for the last few years and we are suiting up again this year. In the past we've done AC/DC's "Let There Be Lions", The Eagles' "Lion Eyes" and last year we paid tribute to The Lions as well as Brisbane's greatest band by playing The Saints classic (I'm) Stranded (Far From Goal). Who knows what gem we'll come up with this year? Teams play in reverse ladder order so we've been pretty much opening the gig for the last few years but this year we're going on 14th!!!
We'd love to see a big Lions contingent there to make some noise and drown out our bum notes.
